Trying to stay optomistic
Hi everyone,
I'm on CD10.
Well I will probably be doing my first IUI this weekend. I'm not really looking forward to it. I have not been feeling at all optomistic. To top it off, my older, yes my older sister thinks she's preganant again (she is 42). First of all, why she had to tell me before she was cetain is beyond me.
Great I go through all of these drugs, I lose weight, worry about eveything I eat and I still can't get pregant while my older, overweight, sofa slurping sister gets pregnant twice during the whole time I'm TTC.
I don't have the heart to even tell my DH. He's not going to be happy.

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
Jilda,
I know what you mean! Its probably good to be somewhat guarded going into your 1st IUI (I was not and was crushed!), but it has a very good chance of working for you. Try to do something nice for yourself during the 2ww.
As for extra fertile people - I know what you mean there too. Granted, mine are not related to me, but I now have 3 friends that have had 2 babies in the time we've been trying just to get pregnant. One is older, one is younger and one wasn't even trying either time.
We've got to help each other pull through this. Don't let anything deter you from your goal of being a parent! You WILL get there! Even if we have to drag each other across the finish line!

PS - Sorry - I was feeling like a cheerleader this morning!

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
Thanks Meghan I can always use a cheerleader!!
As it turns out, my sister just had a cyst on her ovary, she's not pregnant at all. I don't know what possessed her to to tell me when she wasn't even sure!!
The worse part is she's doesn't understand why I got upset!!!
How can I explain this to her? (Is it possible?)
I'm pulling for you too!

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
I don't think people can truly understand unless they've been through this. I constantly get advice, and "don't think about it"s from everyone around me, but the one person who has been struggling with IF for 8 years that I talk to, has never once said those things to me.
Hopefully your IUI will be a success, and you will have some great news to share with your sister. My sister (not trying) just had a baby in May, as well as 6 other people are pregnant around me who started trying after me. I just think how special it will be when I get pregnant, I'll be the only one! Try to keep your head up, this IUI could very well do the "trick"!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
Jilda,
I agree with Erin. If they have not been through IF or recurrent MC's they just don't get it. What kills me is when they think they do.
My favorite piece of advice - "Pray harder, Your not praying hard enough". Yes, because God has not allowed me to have a baby because I don't pray enough for it or want it bad enough!!! Some people just don't know how dumb and insensitive they sound!
Hang in there Kiddo!

Thanks Meghan and Erin! I can't belive that someone said you needed to pray harder. Yeah if it was that simple we'd all be pregnant already!! I go for my IUI tomorrow morning. Woo hoo! Go Sperm GO!

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
GOOD LUCK!!!! How many follies did you have? 10-20 million sperm is about all you need. Oh, I am hoping for you!!!
Yeah - the pray harder thing knocked me over. I almost strangled the person who said it. That and "Relax" are the 2 things that set me off! Like my Doctor would perform surgery on me because I had not been "relaxed" enough to get pregnant on my own!
I hope this is not bad to say, but I'm kinda glad your sister is not pregnant. Sometimes we all get slapped around more then we deserve, and you deserve a break!
Let us know how it goes!!!

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
The IUI went fine! I don't know the exact numbers, the nurse said the count and motility were great. I had 4 follies on my right side. So I'm hoping that is my good side!
Now if we can just get that egg and sperm to meet up

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
Jilda,
I hope the IUI does the trick for you. I'm sure this 2ww is going to be a tough one. You had some great follies there girl! Are you doing progesterone support? Will you be going for a beta or doing a HPT?
I'm sending you tons of vibes!

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
I'm okay for the first week because I keep telling myself that nothing can possible feel different until implantation occurs and any symptoms are from the HCG. But that 2nd week is killer. I am taking progesterone support starting on Tuesday. I do a HPT and if it is positive I go into the doctors office for the beta. Until then I just :crossedfing and !

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
WOOHOO! Sounds like you have a great chance this month!
The 2ww after my IUI was a killer. Hopefully yours will have a happier ending then mine did. Just remember, most pregnant women do not have any symptoms before they miss af.
God, I hope this is your lucky month!!

Re: Trying to stay optomistic
Jilda, I am a bit late here... but I am glad to hear that your IUI went well. I will pray for a SPEEDY 2ww for you-- and a BFP, as well =)
