Default prolactin levels and hello from newbie

hi
im new to this group so please forgive me if i do anything wrong here
im not sure where to start so here goes
im 34 and from the uk,im happily married for 11 years(together for 14)with one daughter age 11 yrs
i was diagnosed with endo apx 7 years ago,and PCOS apx 5 years ago
i had an ovarian cyst drained by lap apx 4 years ago
apx 4 years ago they discovered my prolactin was too high at 1,815,they put me on dostinex and its gone down to under 200 now, they did an mri scan apx 3 years ago and said they couldnt see any tumour but have never really discussed it further with me so id really appreciate any light anyone can shed on the subject,i still have severe headaches and my eyesight is getting worse
also weve been trying for another baby for the last 10 years with no sucess they said im ovulating and cant see why im not getting pregant and have said ivf is the only way,any tips or hints,i know i sound stupid but i really dont know where to go from here,my drs are telling me nothing+just pushing for us to pay for ivf
also they are saying im overweight (suprise suprise)i weigh 12 st 3lbs and am 5ft 5" tall ,i know im a bit heavier than i was when i was 19(10st 7)but who isnt lol do you think this will serious stop me concieving as they are trying to blame that too
any help much appreciated
love+hugs
lisa

Hi Lisa,

to our little home away from home! Happy to meet you but sad that you had to join us at all. You will find many girls here who are very supportive. As for your situation, I find the one thing that you mention below comforting which is that there was no evidence of a tumor that could be causing the high prolactin levels from 3 years ago. If it's possible see if you can have another scan done to recheck.

You have stated also that you have PCOS and that is a common reason why Prolactin levels can be increased. Take a look at the following websites which can hopefully provide more information:

http://www.cushings-help.com/pcos-prolactin.htm

http://www.ivillagehealth.com/expert...=adid=10883150

I hope that the info is helpful. Keep us posted and again!

Kim

Hi Lisa and

I'm sorry to see that you had to join us but I hope that you find lots of support and friendship here. Looks like Kim was able to help you out with your questions, I don't know much about it so I'm afraid I can't add much. I was wondering if you are seeing a specialist or not since you have had so many issues in the past. If not then that's something you may want to consider as they may see something that a regular OB isn't.

Good luck to you and I hope you find some answers soon!
