How is the adoption process going for both of you? I haven't seen any updates for a while and I didn't want you to think we forgot about you ladies! I hope all is going well and that both of you have your little ones in your arms very soon! Post us an update when you can!

Thanks for thinking of me! I really appreciate it. I would also like to know what is going on with Karen, I posted to her but she hasn't responded yet.

As for us. ... all our paperwork is done and being translated by our lawyer in Guatemala. This s/b done by Wed, so we could get a referral as soon as Wed! However, I'm not sure it will happen that soon b/c the way our program works is a bm works with our lawyer and after she gives birth she signs over her rights. At that point we receive our referral. I know our lawyer is working "with several ladies" (that was what our coordinator said). However, I don't know how far along (they aren't allowed to give us that info). After that it goes through court and then we bring the baby home. He/she could be as young as 4mths when we bring him home. In the meantime we've been keeping busy working on the nursury, organizing the house, buying things etc. I feel like I'm nesting. It's been a lot of fun though. I'm getting really anxious for our referral. I can't wait to find out if it is a boy or a girl or see the picture. I can't believe its already been almost 6 mths since we made the decision to adopt, time has been absolutely flying.

I hope everything is going good with you and I wish you the very best of luck. I still check up on everyone over here quite frequently.

Hi Kim!
You sound so happy, and this is so exciting!! And like you said, the time is flying! I can hardly believe it's been 6 months! I can't wait to hear about your referral, please make sure you pop in and let us know when you hear more! It won't be long now and that little baby will be in your arms!

Now where is Karen? Karen, give us an update when you can!

Hi Kristin (and Kim!)!

Thanks for thinking of me (and Kim). Sorry for the delay in my reply--I've been at Glacier Nat'l Park and the Canadian Rockies with my Mom. We had a fabulous time but I came down with a cold so I'm at home today resting and not infecting everyone at work.

We are attending our agency's 2-day workshop next weekend and the social worker is coming out to our house for our homestudy interview on August 24th. She said that we should go into the waiting pool about 4-6 weeks after that. We have a good draft of all the paperwork done and filled out our background checks. I've been to the doctor to have the medical form filled out and Nancy is going in a few weeks. The paperwork really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. You just do it bit by bit until it's done. Being able to order birth/divorce certificates online makes things much easier too.

My 40th birthday is next week and I plan to hike to the base of a glacier on nearly Mt. Rainier. Should be fun!

Karen

Hi Karen!
I should have known that if you weren't around to post you were on a trip somewhere! You are such the world traveler!

It sounds like things are moving along smoothly, and quickly which is great! I can't wait to hear more, be sure to let us know what's happening! And HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY this weekend! I'll be hiking too this weekend, but near Lake Michigan, not Mt. Rainier. Your trip sounds a lot more exciting than mine! Have a great time and post some pics when you get back!

Thanks for the birthday wishes Kristin and AJ. AJ, it's GREAT to hear from you!!

I'm actually looking forward to my 40's. I've been through so much hell in the past five years (chronic hives, autoimmune thyroid and arthritis diseases, and infertilty on top of all that!) that I'm looking forward to leaving my 30's behind and starting this new phase of my life. The hives are gone, the diseases are managed extremely well with meds, and I'm definitely going to be a Mom!! Frankly, 40 can't come quickly enough.....
