Default Help I am at a crossroad !

Hi Ladies

I need your opinions please ! So far I have done 5 rounds of clomid - 2nd round worked but ended in miscarriage. I had my specialist appt today to discuss IVF options and my specialist said that its up to us what we want to do we can either start IVF straight away or try clomid for 3 or 4 more months. I am so confused I just dont know what to do. Yesterday I was all for starting IVF and in a way I still am but theres a little bit of doubt that maybe I should give clomid a little more time I have had this month off clomid and feel so much better that I am hesitant to put myself through the emotional stress again and all that waiting !! But on the other hand clomid sounds alot less scarey than IVF !!!! DH & I havnt had a chance to discuss it all yet because I had to drop him back at work, so we will talk about it tonight but I would also appreciate some more opinions.

Thanks

hi! Before going onto IVF, have you thought about injectables and either Bd'ing or IUI?

Hi Caroline,
I agree with Kerri, have you considered some other less invasive options like Clomid w/IUI or injectables with IUI prior to moving on to IVF? I can't tell you what the best course of action would be but if you have reservations about moving on to IVF I think you should give it serious thought and go with what your gut instinct is. You got pg before on Clomid and though it tragically ended in m/c you could definitely get pg again on Clomid. It may be worth it just to give those other options a chance before hauling out the big guns. I hope this helps you and good luck with this difficult decision!

Hi Caroline,

I've done 7 rounds of Clomid with HCG trigger shot and IUI and after that moved on to injectables. My Dr felt that by the 3rd round I should have been pregnant already. I gave it a couple more months and it didn't seem to work. I have moved on to Injectables with IUI and I must say that the injectables are definitely better than the Clomid...plus extended use of Clomid can thin the uterus lining. I would if you can, look into injectables with IUI before going onto IVF. Also have you had any testing done - ie... HSG, LAP, Immune testing etc..? If not perhaps you can look into that before going forward...

In the end of course the decision is yours to make. You have to be comfortable with the plan. *I gotta tell ya that I hated Clomid though!*

I hope this helped a little...

Good Luck with what you decide...we'll be here for you no matter what!

PS....Clomid and or Injectables w/ IUI are also alot cheaper than IVF...

Hi Ladies

Thanks so much for you advice it is so good to have other people going through the same thing to bounce ideas off ! My clinic doesnt offer Injectables - I dont know why maybe its not a very popular method in Australia. I asked about IUI when I was on clomid and my spec didnt recommend it said they hardly ever do this procedure and its only beneficial with couples that have a low sperm count as the IF problem??? This is only one Dr opinion of course but where I live there is only 2 IF clinics and I have a friend who goes to the other clinic and she isnt happy with her DR , my next closest clinic is 1 1/2 hrs drive away and I find it hard enough to juggle work and my appts as it is. The IVF organisation I am going to is also very respected in Australia so I am happy with their success rates etc. As for tests - I have had them all - HSG, Lapo. blood work etc etc. DH & I talked it about heaps over the past 2 days and we have decided to go ahead with IVF. We wont be starting for another mth at least because my Dr wants all my blood work etc done again seen it has been 2 yrs since I first started all my testing. I will keep you posted and thank you again for your advice.
