Hey Andrea!!
I am concerned about that too! I know of two different kinds of doses one is 300IU and the other is 600IU and the nurse said I would be starting the 600iu one... and thought that 600IU if broken down to 7 days would be about 85iu a day. I think that 75 is the minimum....but I will definitely talk to them before I start and make sure if this is right....
I've never done an injectible cycle before and this would be my first. When I took Clomid my Dr never monitored my E2 levels only did ultrasounds on days 11, 13, 15 and then I would usually trigger. I took 50mg's of Clomid 2x's a day = 100mg a day total and usually would only have 1 - 2 mature follies at trigger time.

600IU is a lot....which is great if you can go right into an IVF cycle.

One of the things that the Dr did say at our consult is that depending on how I respond to the meds (ie...if I have a lot of eggs and they were mature and good quality) instead of cancelling the cycle they would retreive them and do IVF and place 2 back in. So we would wind up going from an IUI cycle to IVF cycle... does that sound like it makes sense??
Is IVF covered by your insurance? - Unfortunately, my insurance only covers up to a $2,000 max per lifetime (IVF, IUI, etc) (just recently changed) so I will probably use it up before I even do IVF. Meds are not included in the $2,000 lifetime max so that is so far a good thing.

My first injectible cycle with 75 IU (stimmed days 3-9) was cancelled due to OHSS.

OHSS is something that I'm scared of so I am definitely going to talk to the doctor....maybe he wanted to increase my dosage because of my weight. I know that dosage can sometimes be determined on height and weight along with blood levels. He also wants me to go for bloodwork before I do this. I'm also not at the ideal weight for my height but not obese. So maybe he felt that because I had some weight on me that it would take more to stim?? Looks like I'm gonna have to ask him because I don't want to assume.
Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

I will definitely take your advice and ask some more questions....I will ask them if I could take the smaller dosage first just to be on the safe side.
I am really hoping that I won't have to even do this at all but my records indicate that AF should be knocking on my door any minute now...

to us all!!
I'll keep you posted on how things go!!
