Default Summer Plans

Hi Ladies,
I cant believe summer is just about here! Was wondering what you are all planning with the kids to keep them busy. Holly will go to summer camp at her preschool for 2 weeks this summer and is very excited. We are planning a few trips to Cape Cod, but other than that...just hanging around. I will work 20 hours a week this summer, but mostly mornings. We turned down a membership with our community pool because the baby has tubes in her ears and we cant take a chance of her getting water in her ears..bummer! Seems like all my friends will be hanging at the pool without us *sigh*

Do you sign up for any activities - gymnastics, art, etc?

We are going to mostly stick close to home this summer. We are headed to Moab, Utah next week. Maybe San Fran in Aug. My mom wants to fly up and take Kate home with her to Dallas for a few days sometime this summer. We have several visits from friends and family members going on this summer.

Kate and Jack are both taking a gymnastics class & maybe dance. Kate has a few day camps - a multi sport camp, a cheerleader camp, and zoo camp. All really short.

We'll probably spend most of our time at the pool. Both kids took lessons all winter. Jack isn't swimming independently yet, but Kate is a little fish. All she wants to do is swim. Definitely her element.

The weather has been so cold and rainy these last few days that summer seems ages away. I'm ready for some 70-80 degree days and plenty of sun! The boys both start soccer on June 9th, and Nik will be attending a gymnastics camp in August. We're planning on going to Niagara Falls and African Lion Safari the weekend of July 5th-6th. We were going to go to my brother's condo near Virginia Beach, but they are all booked so we're going to hold off until October or November for that. We live about a block from a lake, so we'll probably spend a lot of time at the beach now that Nate is big enough that it won't be too hard to keep an eye on both of them. And we're going to try to go camping at least once or twice. Otherwise we're just going to be doing a lot of yard work, putting in a patio, and enlarging the garden.

Whew! When I start thinking that our summer is sounding too busy all I have to do is call my SIL and I feel much better. She has my nephew signed up for so many activities that it makes my head spin!

We usually cut our activities and take it easy. We do go to the community pool quite a bit. DD also does an acting camp for one week that she LOVES. We may do some weekend jaunts, but nothing is planned.

I'd like to sign Rebecca up for swimming lessons and maybe ballet. But it just depends. Rebecca is very gregarious, but she is a slow starter and I'm not sure how she'll do in a class. She's starting preschool in the fall and I think if she were involved in some things this summer it would be a good transition for her, but needless to say, the catalogue is sitting on my desk waiting for someone to do something with it...

We're rugging up for winter! No major plans here except to stay warm I want Tim to have more swimming lessons but am not sure we can afford it. Of course, if I get a job then I won't have time to take him either! He starts school in September - can't believe it.

We just bought a tent trailer that we can't wait to use!! We have a 2 weeks vacation planned with my mom, it should be a 12 hours drive but cut in a few hours each day. I'm sure we'll enjoy it!

Camille has been in gymnastics all winter and will probably start next fall, this summer it's time for soccer, hopefully she will like it. No activities for Veronique yet, I want to wait until she's 3 or 4. we'll see about that!

Penny - I can't beleive our little ones are starting school in september, crazy!

Isabella has summer camp at school all June and part of July, gymnastics, outdoor soccer, karate, ballet (her first recital is Father's Day weekend), and swim lessons. I can't believe she can swim around the pool. She decided to do it on her own last week at the pool and we enrolled her in some private lesson for the next 4 weeks. I will be having this baby boy some time in June and other than our usually few weeks up at the cabin in Tahoe and camping here and there, we are actually sticking around here this summer. Thank goodness since last summer we are still paying off. We will do littel weekend trips out to the beach house as usual, but noth flying anywhere or going to any new or far destinations. Isabella's schedule will keep us busy enough. wow....barely got through that post. BREATHE!!!!!

Nope, we don't sign Anna up for anything except swimming lessons, but we'll actually stop that over the summer while it's nice out and we'll be swimming outside. I work for myself so I'll be going down to half days of work for about 6 weeks of the summer, which will allow me to pick Anna up from daycare and go for picnics and afternoons at the beach or the potholes or just hang out in our own backyard. I'm looking forward to the slower pace! Oh, and we'll head to the family's cottage in Ontario for two weeks. That's a five hour flight I'm not looking forward to, but we've done it twice before with Anna. We actually live in such an amazing spot for being outside during the summer, I will miss being here while we're at the cottage! We mostly go there to spend time with Tim's family. We can swim in the river just a short walk away here. It smells so good here in the summer. I can hardly wait.

We've enrolled Tucker in Peewee soccer for the Summer. We had our first practice and he already wants to play a game. He did really well. I'm excited for him.

Sue - you could still go to the pool just put some plugs in her ears or make sure she doesn't go fully under, you guys could still have loads of fun I wouldn't disregard the pool for the entire Summer!

Well the boys are in Summer school right through Summer at the Montessori, they have loads of fun things planned there to keep them busy, thank goodness Were also doing some camping at the end of August and I want to enroll Olly in swimming when he turns 3 next month. Ben at 5, is like Kate, can swim like a fish....other than that just lazy weekends down at the beach with my little surfers

Kaili just started swim classes this week and that lasts 2 1/2 weeks.

She is still going to her school all summer. Today was the last day of preschool and they are off all next week. But the following week starts up summer camp at her school and it runs til the Fall session starts back up for PreK. They let us pay the same tuition for summer camp as we pay each month during the regular school year which is nice!

They divide the summer up into three segments and each segment has a theme. So she'll go there M-F 930am-130pm.

I know we'll be going to Disney World one day this summer so Alana can see Mickey around her birthday time. She LOVES Mickey.

We have passes to the Orlando Science Center and the local zoo so Im sure we'll make a trip to those places as well.

Other than that, we usually go on a week vacation at the beach but we're skipping a week vacation this year because we decided to have our pool and backyard renovated. Im really excited about that! This is the end of the third week so hopefully by next week everything will be done!

So I plan on spending a LOT of time out by the pool!! Hopefully Kaili will be swimming well after her classes are over!
