What is the latest on side airbags and carseats? I have never heard anything about them being dangerous, but I never really thought about it until today when someone asked me about it.

I tried to do a quick internet search but didn't find much. One place said that maybe the side airbags don't inflate unless there is enough weight in the seat and that kids in carseats don't get to that weight. Another said to have the airbags deactivated. Another said that the sides aren't as forceful as front airbags so they pose no real danger.

Anyone know?

I thought they were supposed to be de-activated. Hmmm...maybe Jennifer, SK's resident car seat expert, will weigh in.
