Default Carseat Help!

Truitt has officially outgrown our infant carrier. I would like to buy a bigger seat for Keegan and move Truitt into Keegan's Britax Roundabout. Let me just say up front that I am a carseat snob lol!

I was going to get the Regent for Keegan and then I saw that Britax came out with the Frontier. I really don't like the looks of the Frontier. It doesn't look as comfy or substantial as the Regent. The one down side to the Regent is that it is huge and is not certified for air travel. That is the main thing that has me considering the Frontier. I can't seem to find a Frontier around here to look at. I think they are only available online right now.

What do those of you who have the Regent do for traveling? Do you just have a cheaper seat that you use for air travel and then in a vehicle when you get to your destination? I really like the Regent and don't know what to do, but need to make a decision soon.

The Regent can be a pain in the butt to install and it is large, you know that. The Frontier JUST came out, but it's supposed to be nice. The harness slots aren't as high as the Regent though, but it doesn't turn into a nice booster that can be LATCHed into the car when in use. It has no rethread straps which is super handy and I love! The harness straps I think are right at 18". If you're not set on Britax, I think I would choose the Graco Nautilus over the Frontier right now. I would never buy a Regent, mainly b/c it doesn't fit well in my van. How long as you wanting to harness him? AJ has a Radian and will probably fit in it till 6.5yo or so, so he'd fit in the Regent till he was 9 or so I bet. Even as a carseat tech, I'm not interested in keeping him harnessed that long right now. If he chooses to stay harnessed when he outgrows this seat, we'll talk then.

Keegan is on the small side (always has been) so he may be harnessed a little longer. I still really like the Regent, but will need something else for travel. Is the Nautilus air travel certified?

We have the Nautilus and love it. We got it on sale at Fred Meyer for $139.99. A friend with an older boy said the crotch strap might be too snug for boys (according to the car seat boards she is on) so try Keegan in it first if you are interested. She is going to test him out in ours before she buys her own.

Angela,
First, how did I miss this post?? I think sometimes they fall back before I even see them!

We have 2 Regents. When we travel, we have always bag checked the carseats. Now that Kate is old enough, we take a booster for travel (but not on the plane. we still check it. I mostly travel alone with the kids, so I could never handle all our stuff plus the seats).

The Regent is REALLY big. Much bigger than I would have ever guessed. I'm still glad we have them because my kids are so tall - I know that they won't outgrow them until we are out of carseats. But if they were smaller, I might have chosen to go with a different seat.
