Mo - both my kids bit me and I also yelled every time. I can't say I did anything to change it but they did seem to stop eventually. Will Nic chew on an icy facecloth before feeding? It might numb his gums a bit.
Will he drink from a cup or bottle or is just boobys?

Lydia got a cold early on and was not keen to nurse because she was so congested. I used the suction on her and I confess I also used junior nasal drops on her even tho' you're not supposed to.

Maybe he's congested and teething sore so he doesn't feel like eating. You could try not offering him anything but the boob...eventually he'll take it, he's bound to get thirsty!

Try not to worry about your supply; just keep pumping and remember that what you produce pumping isn't necessarily what Nick takes in. No pump is as efficient as a baby.

When Ty was sick last month, we had days where he was so congested, he had a terrible time eating. He'd be on for seconds before pulling off to take a breath. I started doing the saline and suction every time before I nursed him. I also made sure I nursed him with the humidifier on to help his breathing. As it turned out, Ty also had an ear infection, which made nursing even more uncomfortable. Since you are all so sick, you may want to take Nick (and the rest of your family) in to see the doctor to rule anything and everything out and possibly get some meds or at least some advice.

Well, he finally nursed, albeit shortly, maybe 4 minutes on one side only. But, at least he latched on. I pumped to keep up my supply. I'm just so frustrated with this cold. It's been a week and Carlos is still sick, which means we're in for the long haul with the kids too. I'm calling the doctor again. We took Alex in last Wednesday and he said it was just a cold, but I can't handle it any more. I need him to give us better meds or something. This will be day 4 or 5 for the kids running low grade fevers and coughing. Nights are a nightmare. My parents got our colds. They were supposed to be at Disney until Monday and had to come back last night. I feel so bad for them. But, at least they get tp rest. No such thing as rest when your kids are this sick too.

Mo-the kids just went through colds that lasted over a week (temps, coughs, congested noses, weird throats, hoarse voices). Isaac had it before Christmas, Carson got it on Christmas Eve, and dh and I got it over New Years. Im still a little goopey in the nose but am all better though. Colds just hangs on forever, as it may seem. And yes, nights were a nightmare, ugh.
Hope they feel better soon.

Mo~ I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but dh and I are just now getting over the nasty cold/fever thing that's been going around. I came down with it at Christmas and dh at New Years. But the kids managed to get over it quicker because all they did was sleep. Natalie had it about a week and Katie, just about 4 days. I pray that you all get over this quickly. As hard as it is, you all (including you!) need to rest.

Well, Nick nursed again around 2pm. So he nursed at 7:30am, and then 2pm. He just doesn't want to eat or drink much. Carlos is just now starting to get a sore throat, just when we thought he might be getting better, so who knows how long this crazy bug will last. Alex seems to be worse. I'm exhausted. I just want to sleep, but there's really no one who can help. My parents are really sick, and my IL's can't get near here because my MIL's immune system is very weak as it is. It's going to be another long night. Oh well. We'll survive. Sorry for all the venting. It's my only escape!
