Default Anybody have low amniotic fluid before?

I think I remember some of the ladies here saying they had low amniotic fluid during the last few weeks. I had an ultrasound this morning and the tech said that my fluid was on the low end of normal. Everything else looked fine. Cord/placenta was working well and the kidneys and bladder looked fine. The baby is measuring at 5 lbs 2 oz as of today so she's also growing just fine. I'm trying to not freak out about this but you know how easy that is when your preggie! She said to rest a lot, stay off my feet as much as I can, and increase my fluids. Anyone else have any experience with this?

I was concerned about this with both pregnancies because I went overdue. First off, don't worry - the doctor will not let you go longer than your body will allow. Amniotic fluid levels are very important so they keep a close watch and will of course err on the side of caution.
Secondly, both of my midwives told me to drink a lot of water and up my vitamin intake. You need a super healthy placenta & uterus to maintain your fluid levels.
It's normal for your fluid level to get lower as you near your due date.

Hope it increases for you Carrie. Didn't Sara (mum to Emma) have this issue too? Haven't seen her around much.

Oh Carrie, I did with Lily. It was getting lower and lower each time they checked and I ahd also lost about 17 lbs during my pregnancy, which only put me at a total of 6 lbs gained!
But in the end, she was ok and weighed 8lbs, 6oz at birth!
I drank as much water as I could. Scared me a bit though!
