IUI ~ anyone been through this

Hi,
I am now seeing a fertility specialist. I have gone through blood testing. I will be in the process of going through some ultra sound work and another HSG test. My doctor thinks if everything goes wll our next step would be IUI. Has anyone been through this? Can anyone explain more about the procedure? I would also love to hear from anyone who has had success with this.
