Hi, I usually post on the 6+ month board, but your post caught my attention. I had an HSG 2 weeks ago. It's not bad at all. It was painful as the balloon end of the catheter was inflated, but then the cramping stopped and they did the xray, watched the dye go through and it was over. Some people have pain of their tubes are blocked, but mine were not.

Don't stress! It'll be fine!

Hi there. I usually post on the Prep board, but lurk over here sometimes. I had a HSG a few months ago. I was pretty nervous about it too. It was not bad at all though. When the radiologist inflated the baloon it felt like bad menstrual cramps, but just for 2-3 seconds. The only other uncomfortable part was lying on a hard table for 30 minutes...kindof hard on the back. Other than that, it was not a bad experience. I wouldn't worry too much about it...I know that is easier said than done though.

Hi! I just wanted to add my bit. I usually post on other boards. My HSG hurt really bad but most women say it feels more like period cramping. My doctor advised me to take 4 ibuprofens an hour before hand. I was fine once they took the ballon out. I don't know of anyone that has had complications from an HSG. However, I think there can be problems if you are allergic to iodine or latex.

Hope it goes well!

Hello, I had an HSG in August. I was scared to death about having it. I heard so much about pain... Anyway it was nothing. My doctor did tell me to take 800mg of motrin a half hour before the procedure so I did. There was no pain at all during the procedure. I had slight cramping after, but it didn't last very long. I did get bad new though...one of my tubes was blocked. That was hard to hear so we are working on that now! Good luck!

Did the hsp help with your block tubes? What are they doing to work on that prob? I think I am more scared of the outcome being bad than the actual test. I hope that everything turns out good for you. I wish you all the best.
