Icon5 Had a baby wearing question

How old is too old for the sling?
Is there an age limit?

I don't think there is an 'age limit' on using a sling. Most sling manufacturers will say that you can safely use their slings until your child is 30 lbs. Most babies/toddlers will outgrow the desire to be 'slung' before they outgrow the ability for the sling to handle their weight. It depends on what you and your child are comfortable with. I'm still wearing my son (mostly on my back in a mei tai) but sometimes in a sling at 22 months of age with no signs of stopping.

As he is getting bigger and heavier I have been looking into a more 'manufactured' carrier such as a Ergo or toddler Patapum which are made to hold more weight.

Happy Babywearing!

My DD can still fit into my Hotsling (she's 2 1/2, about 30 lbs), but she won't have anything to do with it. I think they'll outgrow the want/need to be slung way before they'll physically outgrow it.

You can check out the Ergo here ( http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/ ) they are rather expensive but I have heard nothing but rave reviwes about them!!

The Patapum is similar to the Ergo minus some of the bells and whistles- and a little more pocket friendly. The best price I have found is here at Attached To Baby ( http://store.attachedtobaby.com/detail.aspx?id=84 ) - they also offer the 'new style' as well as the toddler carrier. Attached to baby is a fantastic site that carries many many slings- pouches- and carriers including the Ergo!!

Good luck- hope that helps!!
