Icon6 What`s next?

Hi everyone!

Well I guess I`m looking for some support or advice... This is my second baby, almost 10 months old Véronique isn`t sleeping great...she used to do 10-12 hours before she cut her first tooth..since then I haven`t had those glorious night sleep.

I`m on day 34 of the NCSS, I do see some improvements but not where I want . Her day naps have increased to a total of about 3 hrs total which is great compared to 1.5hrs she used to do. She goes to bed early (6:15-30) and wakes up for the day around 6:15-30.

Her night wakings have increased from 3 to 4...which I don`t like and the span have decreased, she now doesn`t go more than 3-4 hours. When I put her down for her naps and for bedtime she is wide awake and can fall asleep on her own with no crying (has white noise in the room)

When she wakes up at night, she nurses for 3 minutes, when I do the pull out method she just puts her thumb in her mouth and continue to sleep...so I know she doesn`t need nursing. She is teething but doesn`t cry, just need reassurance I guess. We don`t have seperation anxiety, she plays in her crib during the day to get used to it being a safe place...

I just don`t know what to do next? well I guess stop nursing her but what do I do? rock her? tried that and she was looking for the boob and got pretty mad hee hee...

anywho, any advice is welcomed, I start work next month so I would like to be able to sleep a little bit more.

Thanks!
Christine

Hi! Nice to meet you!

Sounds like you are waaaaaay ahead of where I was when my first was 10 months old! His teething was out of control and he woke 10-12 times a night because of it for 2 months straight! And he had been a super sleeper before that so it was quite a shock! It just hurt him and disrupted his sleep so much... in NCSS, Elizabeth Pantley says that during teething time they just may need your comfort and reassurance sometimes at night so they can get through the discomfort...

What does she do if you just try patting her back when she wakes to nurse? Does that not work? It does seem like she needs you during these wakings... have you tried a lovey that has your scent on it... for example a blanket that you can wear around the house under your shirt to get your scent that she can have in the crib with her at night?

Thanks for your reply, sorry I haven't been on for a while!

well I got some good progress! We do have a lovey, white noise and teething is out of the way until next time hee hee! A few days after christmas I just had about enough, and I stopped nursing at night, the change was instant, the next day she slept 4hrs in a row, next one 5hrs and the next day 7hrs! now 2 weeks later she either sleeps through 11hrs straight or wake up once around 2am. I'm ok with that! now I just need to push her bedtime just a bit later 6:30-45 so she get at least go to 6am...as 5:30 is a bit toooo early for me!!

When she wakes up I rock her for 5-10 minutes and that is just what it takes.

so I should look into my NCSS book to see how many days, but it's certainly a good 2 months. I hope everyone reading this can get hope...they will eventually sleep!! hang in there!

I'm starting to work next week but I'll try to come over once in a while, maybe to help out a bit! but Zennifer you are doing a great job!
