Toddler won't nap w/out stroller. Any suggestions on breaking this habit?
I'm having nap issues with my 19-month-old daughter. I work Monday through Friday, so I'm only around for naps on Saturday and Sunday. During the week, she's at daycare 3 days, at home with my husband one day, and at home with my in-laws one day.
I don't know how they put her to sleep at daycare (don't get me started on why this seems to be such difficult information to get!). My in-laws always put DD in the stroller and walk over to our nearby mall so they can lunch while she naps. My husband I think tends to lay down with DD. As for me, I basically wait until she seems sleepy then try to put her down, or count on being out running errands and having her fall asleep in the car.
Except on occasion when she falls asleep in the high chair (an awful habit but so cute!), I never can get her to just lay down for a nap. I end up having to put her in the stroller to get her to sleep. Sometimes she'll be asleep before I even open the front door, sometimes I have to walk her for 20 minutes or more.
I'm extremely frustrated. My weekends are precious, and I hate that I have to spend an hour to get DD to sleep for just an hour or two. I don't mind the long bedtime routine at night, because then she sleeps all night! The ratio of prep to nap time is just too much for me. I succumbed to letting her cry last Saturday and Sunday out of desperation, but then spent her entire nap crying myself. HELP!
