Icon5 How do I get started?

Hello everyone! I am new to posting. Excuse me if I make a few mistakes along the way. I have read NCSS and am excited to get started. The only problem is that most of the strategies are for 4 months and above. My ds just made three months. Does that mean I have to wait one more month of rocking and nursing to sleep. My biggest problem is not that he wakes up for feeds, but that he cannont go back down. Naps are a nightmare! As the day progress his naps get shorter and he gets harder to put down. I feel pressure into letting him cio, but I know that he is too young! What can I do?

hi timmy'smom,
i could swear i replied to you last night, but today my post isn't here.
i only have a second, but wanted to send you hugs and support.
i'm not the expert, but i don't see why you couldn't follow ep's plan at 3 months. my feeling is, the earlier the better.
one of the 'wise ones' will come and clear this up, but ep's plan is gentle and is about repetition and safety. i can't see how that could be inappropriate for a wee one??? it just goes toward building positive sleep associations and nips any potentially bad habits in the bud. i wish i had found ncss at your stage, i certainly wouldn't be where i am today; feeding my boy to sleep lying down in our bed & tip toeing around the place with knots in my stomach that he'll wake up.

all the best, hang in there.
love&light

Thanks for the reply. It's just sometimes, I feel like I am all alone in this. I really do enjoy rocking my ds to sleep, but I can't imagine doing it when weighs a ton. I know that I have to teach him to fall asleep by himself for all our sakes. I just wish someone would hold my hand through the whole process and reassure me that I am doing everything the right way. Wish me luck. I have a long road ahead of me!

GOD, I'M WITH YOU!!!
and the more i talk to people and log in here, the more of us i find.
we are not alone, but it really feels like it in the middle of the night and when you can't get them to settle or sleep or when they're screaming like they're being tortured even though you hold them close. that's when it's the worst for me. i'm holding him and kissing his little head and singing and shooshing and stroking and loving him so much i feel my heart could burst out of my chest and still he screams. i don't know how to help him, i don't know what he needs, because i would do it... anything he needs. i too would rock him if i have to, if it worked... which it doesn't. yes, we both have a long road, but please feel free to write to me anytime. you can email to personal addresses, there's a button next to your post (can't remember what it's called).

support& love&light to you
