Hi ladies. Just wanted to let you know that we are okay right now. We totally didn't know that this storm that we were gonna have was gonna be so bad. Nobody did. We are accustomed to windy weather, and storms that bring lots of rain and 30-40mph winds etc. This one brought 80+mph sustained winds w/ 100+mph gusts. We lost a ton of shingles off of our roof, and our ceilings have water damage. Hopefully that will be the extent of our damage. Many people have it way worse than we do, so we are grateful that it wasn't any worse.

I'm at my mom's house for the time being. We are without power in our part of town still (since Sunday night) and we are still waiting for the flooding to be over with. I think we are fortunate not to be in the part of town that is flooding so bad, but we are crossing our fingers that the dikes don't give out.

I can't log on to LL to say that we're since I can't remember my pw.

Thank goodness you are all ok. I was hoping I would hear from you and a couple other people on the boards who live out there. I'm so sorry you all are experiencing this and have wind and water damage from this horrible storm. I hope you all stay safe at your moms house and those dikes stay put!

If you'd like. I've been mainly a lurker there too lately, but if anyone asks, we are okay.

We've talked to FEMA, and are waiting to hear from our ins. company for beginning the repairs. We'll be here for a couple more days I think. I go back to work tomorrow, and the kids are out of school until either Monday, or until the power comes back on. They are predicting it could be up to another 5 days, and it is getting very cold outside.

I hope FEMA and your insurance company are able to help you all without too much hassle. Hopefully it won't be too much longer for the power to come back on. Especially with it getting so cold. When hurricane Katrina hit, we were displaced for 3 months because of no power and contaminated water supply. I hope that is not a problem for you all too. Let us know if you need anything.
