Default newbie with questions

My name is Dusty and I have been researching CDs for many weeks now & I am just getting more & more confused!!

I really want to make the change to CDs - but right now it seems a bit scary!!!

Any advise on a good CD system to use would be greatly appreciated!

I am pretty interested in the one size - since I have a 1 y/o & a nb on the way - but I am scared of making an investment in something that doesn't work well

If some of you experienced CD mommys would please help me out & answer some of these questions - I would greatly appreciate it!!!

What are your favorite AIO's?
What are your favorite pocket diapers?
Do you like the flushable liners? If so what works best for you?
Do you prefer prefolds or fitteds?
What are the best inserts & doublers?
I like the fitteds - what are the best (most absorbant) kinds?
What about the covers - which do you prefer?
What are the least expensive (but really good quality) CDs you know of?
Any laundering tips?
Diaper pails- where do you find the ones for CD'ing?
Do you have any more advise to add????

Thank you in advance for your help / advise

What are your favorite AIO's? We used Bumkins before we switched to pockets
What are your favorite pocket diapers? BumGenious one size
Do you like the flushable liners? If so what works best for you? We don't use them. I did use fleece liners in the bumkins. But don't use anything in the BG's
Do you prefer prefolds or fitteds? Fitteds and covers. But prefolds are a lot cheaper.
What are the best inserts & doublers? We use the BumGenius doublers.
I like the fitteds - what are the best (most absorbent) kinds? I had WAHM made fitteds when I started out.
What about the covers - which do you prefer? I used all kids.
What are the least expensive (but really good quality) CDs you know of? BG one size are $18 a diaper and a good deal in my eyes. Everything else seems to be $20+
Any laundering tips? Cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse!
Diaper pails- where do you find the ones for CD'ing? We use a trash can (with a lid) with a PUL wetbag in it.
Do you have any more advise to add???? You can get good deals on diapers if you check out diaperswappers!

I'd suggest experimenting to find what you like with your 1 y.o. A good way to try something out for a lot less is to buy used diaperswapper.com. Also, a lot of people really like a stack of prefolds for a newborn.

Anyway.....

What are your favorite AIO's?... Not a fan of AIO's because we like to line dry and they take too long to dry.

What are your favorite pocket diapers?... I like the old style fuzzi Bunz, My Precious Baby by April and Diaper Change. Happy Heiny's are fine too.

Do you like the flushable liners? If so what works best for you?.... I only use flushable liners when I'm out and about. We use a diaper sprayer at home so getting rid of poop isn't an issue.

Do you prefer prefolds or fitteds?.... Each have their place, each has pros and cons. they come out even IMHO.

What are the best inserts & doublers?... I prefer microfiber inserts. I like the thirsties in FB but really, they are all comparable. I even use microfiber cloths in a trifold stuffed in pockets and it works great.

I like the fitteds - what are the best (most absorbent) kinds?... All I can say is to avoid Kushies.

What about the covers - which do you prefer?.... Wool is great for over night, fleece is nice and light and easy to care for. Past that, it's all a matter of personal preference. Just make sure you get quality (keep in mind you usually get what you pay for)

What are the least expensive (but really good quality) CDs you know of?... I love this girl's diapers Owls R here - Over 100 fabric choices to choose from - Diaper Change Pocket Diapers - Diaper Swappers - Cloth Diaper & Parenting Community

Any laundering tips?.... Cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse. I've tried soap nuts and really like them. Past that, try not to use too much soap and use vinegar in the rinse, hang to dry when you can (helps the planet and helps to maintain fabrics, elastics and colors)

Diaper pails- where do you find the ones for CD'ing?.... I prefer a dry pail. I find it's less oder, easy, and doesn't take extra chemicals, cleaners, soaps or work. Our dry pail is a camping dry bag from Wal Mart, hung on the back of the laundry room door.

Do you have any more advise to add????.... Keep your stash simple. Also, one size may not be the answer for everyone. I'm not a fan of one size, I prefer to buy a complete stash of smalls and mediums (smalls and Med's may be all you need from birth to potty training).
