I think I know why my baby doesn't sleep through the night

I think I have figured it out! Elias will be 16 mos tomorrow and has never slept through the night. He has always fussed all night, thank goodness we cosleep or else I would go crazy. Anyway, I think I depended too much on wool to keep him dry at night and didn't think about doubling up his fitted/prefold. Wool is awesome of course, no leaks at all. So, last night I snappied a trimmed prefitted, with the extra fabric sewn out as a soaker. I laid 2 cotton liners on it..did the jelly roll and covered it with wool. He slept so well last night! He probably fussed maybe once. I went to work nice and refreshed this morning and still feel good and it's almost 11pm! (I'm usually asleep by this time) I think he was fussing because he didn't feel dry even though I was..lol. What I did now is put a fitted, a soaker and a wrap under wool longies. He looks content and ready to go to sleep. If he sleeps well tonight I'll assume that's part of the problem and will make sure he is bulletproof for nighttime

Oh! I hope it works! If there's one thing I miss pre-kids, it's not booze, smokes, or sex - it's sleep. LOL!

Shoot - I wish Natalya would start sleeping through the night! I wondered if she would if I weaned her, but I just don't have the heart. My Niko was sleeping through at 8 months and always went down quickly after I put him in the crib drowzy, but awake. Not THIS girl...

Heck I dont know what sleep is. My older two slept through the night just fine but they were on formula and I let them cry in their cribs

My JJ and Elias have been totally spoiled with sleeping with mommy and nursing on demand.

Elias has been nice and bulletproof for a while now and he hasn't woken up. I think the double stuffings is the key

Remember there will be one day we will miss these sleepless nights! So treasure them! I have a 3 1/2 yr old who doesn't sleep through the night lately!

We have co-slept w/ all of our kids. I love it, and I will miss it when the boys sleep in their own beds all night long.

Well last night was another success! By all means Elias doesn't sleep through the night but now that I'm doubling up his fitteds at night (meaning that I'm adding extra liners) he's going a lot longer between wakings. Last night he woke up only 2x as opposed to every hour or two. I don't mind the wakings if he really wants to nurse but if he feels uncomfortable with being wet then nursing will not fix it.

I remember with my 3rd, who's now 5 yrs old, he slept with us until Elias was born. Even though I had the baby in bed with me, I still missed him terribly..i miss the big boy hugs and the kisses in the middle of the night. When Elias was born he said he would go to his big boy bed because he needs to make room for his little brother..i totally cried! I love cosleeping, it's such a wonderful way to keep the bond and the sanity

Aw, Brenda! What a sweet little boy!
I wouldn't mind it if Niko wanted to sleep with us more often - however - he's a major bruiser! DH is never too thrilled b/c he ends up on the tiniest corner of our king...lol.

LOL..Juan always hated cosleeping..we have a queen sized bed and he always b*tched and moaned about how I should get them to sleep in their own bed. Know what I said? If you don't like it there's another room in the basement..go for it..LOL Heck I don't sleep comfortably, I worry about crushing the baby, making sure he's comfortable and fed and I'm always aware of things..his dumb a** only worries about getting enough sleep..well if I don't get enough sleep, neither does he. If he wants his stinky butt kids to sleep in their own bed then he can go on and give it a try. He shut up after that..LOL
