Default Is bamboo worth it?

Hi everyone.

We've been using a diaper service since Natalie was born. I love their soft fleece fitted diapers. But now she's starting to use less (5 or 6 a day) and the service is seeming really expensive. So we are going to switch to washing our own.

We are thinking of buying 5 or 6 Bum Genius diapers to use at night and if we go out during the day. And then the rest of the time I want to use a simple diaper. We are looking into buying some from the company that supplies the service (we really like them) - but if that doesn't work out we will probably buy the 'One Size' Mother-ease. I really like the feel of the bamboo - but they are $5 more per diaper. Is it worth it?

Honestly, I really like bamboo when it is brand new. It really is soo super soft. But I do find that after a few months of washing that it looses that super softness. It's still soft, but not the same as when I first bought it. Maybe it's just the particular supplier of the bamboo diapers I have? Maybe not all bamboo does this, but I don't know. Hopefully a diaper maker will chime in.

You could also try velour diapers too.

I'm not saying I wouldn't buy it either, because I have quite a few bamboo and velour lined diapers. Just wanted to share my personal experience.

I prefer velour lined also or sherpa. Both stay soft after multiple washes. Though I love bamboo for it's absorbant.

MEOS (non bamboo) stay soft until they get buildup. As long as you keep them buildup free, they'll remain soft. Though some don't like them for absorbant I don't have issues with them. Out of all the OS, they are still my favorites.

ITA about bamboo losing its softness. For some reason my BG fitteds are very hard to clean compared to my other dipes.
