We loved it
When our daughter, Claira, was born, she slept in the bed with my husband & I until she was nearly 6 months old. I felt very connected to her, and Greg was a part of midnight feedings, diapers, etc. I used one of those pillows designed to keep babies from rolling over, and she slept like an angel. We kept a bassinet next to our bed, and occasionally, I would slip her into it as she grew older and allow her to sleep there. It felt good, safer somehow, that we were all together in the same bed, and the same room. Eventually, Claira moved into her own crib into her own room, and usually slept all night almost every night. She prefers to sleep with a pillow and a blanket close to her face, and I like to think it's because it reminds her of her closeness to us in our bed. Separation was not a problem, and we just went into it gradually. I tried to keep the same schedule at night, and it seemed to help.
I highly recommend co-sleeping, and we plan to do it with our next child...
