Default Physical Pain...?

Anyone else who co-sleeps with their little one suffering from extreme physical pain? I sleep with one arm under my head, above his head as he lays beside me and the other one is usually up *over* my head. I also get stuck laying on my side for extended lengths of time as he wants to nurse non-stop for hours sometimes (and if I dare roll away, he wakes up almost instantly and is screaming at me to give him his boobie back). I went through this with my first and second sons, too, but now that I'm older (ahem, more out of shape), I am really hurting. I LOVE co-sleeping, but I am so tired of being so sore.

Am I alone here?

I'm about a month behind, but just wanted to tell you that you're not alone. I wake up like that every morning.

do you have your baby in a co-sleeper or just in the bed with you?

we bought the "close and secure sleeper" and it worked great!

My son's still in bed w/ us - I bought a co-sleeper when I was pregnant and he slept in it... never... I actually had a c-section w/ him, so putting him in/out of the co-sleeper (even though it was attached to the side of my bed) was challenging. Nevermind that any time I laid him down ANYWHERE to sleep, he'd instantly wake up and start to cry...

So, no, no co-sleeper. I am kind of considering putting our mattress on the floor and putting a toddler bed beside us. DH said he'd support this, but then he said he probably wouldn't be able to physically get up if our mattress were on the floor (he has hereditary rheumatoid arthritis in his knees & hands, suffers severe back pain and is, in general, a big baby himself ). So I'm now considering a toddler bed next to our bed as a way to kind of put our little man in his "own" bed while having similar closeness to us. I doubt it will work b/c he still nurses a couple times a night (he's 21 mos. old now), but it might help in the next few months when DH thinks co-sleeping "should" end (Personally, he'd be in bed with us untnil he decides to go to his own bed, be it 3 or 4 or 5 years old, but DH will never go for that!).

My son is 3 and still nurses along with co-sleeping . I learned that to stretch arms out instead of bending otherwise you will wake with achy arms that will fall asleep on you

i had a c-section too and we started co-sleeping in the hospital cause it was easier for me to nurse her. we just recently moved her to the bassenet at the foot of our bed but when she wakes up for her 4:30 feeding i end up laying her next to me in bed with my boob in her mouth so i can get some sleep.

we used the co-sleeper bed for awhile but now its just easier to have her in the bed with me once dh leaves for work. we put a plastic matress protector on so if milk or diapers leak its no biggy.

i lay with one arm under my pillow and the other i cradle her with

My back aches and sometimes my shoulder and hips hurt from just laying on one side all night.

My back hurts every morning from laying on my side all night. I usually sleep with my arm under Cara. That way my bottom boob is right there for when she wakes hungry. I'm a deep sleeper so I never really wake up when she does. She either finds it or I give it to her while I'm half asleep. But curving my spine like that for hours ends up hurting so bad. At night when I lay down I start hurting worse just thinking about it.

I alternate sides for a night sometimes. We started with her just in the middle of the bed, but If I lay on my left I put a pillow (Like the hard neck roll kind) under my fitted sheet so she can't run away
