New here and question on transitioning

Hi...i just stumbled across this forum and have a couple of questions for you BTDT mamas.

DH and I have coslept with Alexis--she's 2 1/2. We recently moved her to a toddler bed--in our room. She fusses but she does fall asleep. Of course, she gets in our bed in the middle of the night. It doesn't bother us, but we have another little one on the way in a few weeks.

My question is...how can i transition her to a twin bed in her own room. I'm worried about the safety of the new baby with Alexis crawling into our bed. I've thought about a co-sleeper, but am really up in the air on what to do.

Please share your experiences...

Congratulations on your second daughter! My oldest (4) still comes into bed with us on occassion during the middle of the night, she has been doing this since she was your oldest daughters age. Just less frequently now. But she did this even when Aislyn was a newborn, she knew where the baby was, and had to lay on the opposite side. So now she is in the habit of laying on the other side of her dad, instead of next to me. We havent had any type of accidents, shes always been cautious coming into the bed.

I have 4 kids and always had a toddle sleeping w/ us along w/ the baby. Right now we actually all three boys in bed w/ us from time to time.
I just sleep w/ the baby on the side of me w/ my back towards the others. baby isn't rolling yet and once he starts we will put the bed rail back up.

I have never made my kids sleep in their own beds, they do it willingly when they feel comfy to do so. My two boys are in their own bed (share a twin) when the night starts now. They just started doing it one night. But still come to bed 2-4 nights awk.
