Icon5 Crib in sidecar arrangement

Hi everyone! I wonder if you can share your experience and give me some advice. I have a 6 month old DD. She started out by sleeping in a cradle next to our bed. It was great, very convenient, very close, and i could rock her without getting out of bed. By now she also sleeps in our bed after night waking almost every night.

The cradle is getting too small for her, so we are thinking of putting a crip in sidecar arrangement next to our bed. My main wish is that DD and i can get to each other easily... Here is my concern: we have a queen-size platform bed which is rather high (29'' tall). If we arrange the crib mattress on the same level as our own, the other three sides of the crib aren't going to be very high above the mattress--not particularly safe when the baby starts pulling herself up into standing position. Of course, it's only a concern when we ourselves are not in bed, but it does happen--nap times, etc. On the other hand, i've heard of older babies in co-sleepers or in parents' beds with some railing (not very high, i assume).

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I dont really have any advice. We put Aislyn in a crib which is next to our bed, but not open to it. And when we come up to bed at night, she comes into our bed. Its worked with all 3 kids for us. We have a railing our bed too, its not very high, but the side of the crib is on the other side, so she cant fall over.
