We decided to start having our daughter (she turned 1 in September) sleep in her crib after her birthday because of the size of our bed and the fact that we're having another baby in December who will be in the bed with us. It's gone surprisingly well, Emma is quite the independant type so I think she actually likes having all the space to herself. I do feel slightly guilty though because we're not still sleeping all together, I very much miss that closeness and I still bring her into our bed every morning and sometimes in the middle of the night (more for my benefit than hers) and we love to cuddle in the mornings...

Anyone else done something similar with their kids? She's doing fine in the crib and we still have her sleep in our bed on occasion, and although I'm missing it right now I think it'll be easier once our second baby comes to already have her used to sleeping on her own in her room (it's right next to ours, so that part is nice).

I guess this isn't really a question, just blabbering on.

My 5 yr old slept in our bed until I had my Elias so I always had a kid in our bed but if JJ would've gone off to sleep in his bed before then I probably would've missed him terribly

Ian goes to bed at 8pm in his crib. He wakes up for a bottle around 2 or 3 am.....I used to try to feed in in the nursery and put him back in the crib.....but by the time he settles down I am wide awake. I work full time....I need my sleep.

When he wakes up for his bottle I take him into bed with me.....he has his own little corner....I keep his pillow, some stuffed animals, blanket and lovie there.....I give him the bottle while we lay in bed....and we both go right back to sleep.

It works for us. Tom sleeps in the guest room most nights. He is on call alot so we are used to not sleeping in the same bed already.....

I sleep better with Ian in bed with me.....and he loves to reach out and rub my hand or arm.
