are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
post about your vote!
i say i'm crispy, because i'm not crunchy enough to truly be part of the AP groups, and i'm way too crunchy to fit in with the mainstream groups.

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
I said crispy. I guess b/c I don't think I'm as crunchy as some, but definitely more than most! I'm so glad for this board, it's a great place for me to come for advice and support!

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
I don't even know which one I am
I think I'm a purist; just focusing on the concept of being attached to my child and following his cues. What does that make me? This link pretty much covers the way I parent:

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
i love that link, eee_mom!
i used to be a lot crunchier, before i became disabled. i mean, breakfast for me used to a bowl of steamed brown rice with a little organic milk and brown sugar. now, breakfast is a can of Slimfast *hides* convenience definitely plays a role in being crunchy. and finances ... health food is sometimes so much more expensive, as are natural cleaning products. i joke, "why does it cost so much more if they take all the unnecessary stuff OUT?!" it's also much easier to grab a paper towel than to do a load of towels in the laundry. *hides again!*
but mommy-wise, i'm as crunchy as can be. i've always been into AP and co-sleeping and gentle discipline, before i knew they had names

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
I'm probably more crispy than the rest of you guys. I believe in a lot of ap but some of it just wouldnt work in my life like co-sleeping, organic food, cloth diapering, etc. I mean I LOVE organic food, I just cant afford it.

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
I'm crispy/borderline crunchy.
We definitely like our convenience stuff which is what keeps me from being total crunch lol
I co-sleep, breastfeed, cloth diaper during the days, Babywear, I homeschooled Joey for 1+ years, and discipline is pretty weak around here although it must be working cause he's very well behaved
At the same time we do vaccinate, I dont buy organic foods they're just too pricey, we recycle most stuff but not all and dont use organic cleaners.

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
What on earth do crunchy, crispy, and soggy mean? It sounds like if I don't know then I'm pretty soggy.

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
our crunchy attributes:
we family bed, breastfeed until the child weaens them self (i tandem nursed for awhile), cloth diapered roo, used a sling with both kids- i wore him into my third trimester with roo, i just stopped wearing roo a few months ago. we are currently unschooling. we no longer vaccinate (both kids have had reactions). i planned and had a completely natural childbirth with roo. i use mamacloth, and we are still thinking about using cloth family wipes. we use a combination of chiropractic care and a family dr instead of the ped we used to see.
my uncrunchy attributes
I dont buy organic foods they're just too pricey, I yell at my kids a LOT more than i would like top (working on that)- so discipline isn't as gentle as i would like. we still use commercial laundry gdetergents, i had meds in labor with tig- pitocin and then an epidural. we eat meat.

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
i would say i am crunchy when it comes to Ashlyn....but not with myself(if that makes sence).
I cloth diaper, breastfeed, cosleep, sling wear, make organic homemade babyfood etc. etc.
however, i did not have a natural birth(probably never will) and dont eat organic foods myself because of expense. I also have a very soggy husband....lol.

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
I'm probably soggy. I bottlefeed (although I did try breastfeeding but never produced, no matter what we tried), use disposable diapers, circumcised, vaccinate, etc. I do co-sleep when he wants (some nights he seems to prefer his space, others he wants to be close) and I sometimes baby-wear. I'm pretty laid-back and just go with the flow, following what seems to be working with him at the time. I don't go a lot by other's (including "professionals") recommendations. I don't I value the latest research nearly as much as experience. My fiancee is from England and we have found that what is recommended differs greatly from one country to the next. My idea of a "professional" is someone who has raised several children, learned as she went, realized that children are all different and standards don't always apply to ALL children and the children are doing well. I don't really believe in right and wrong ways of parenting, but think that the "right" way is whatever works for you and your family. I respect people's right to choose how they parent without criticism for their choices

Re: are you crunchy, crispy, or soggy?
Wow, I guess I am pretty crunchy. But I am newly crunchy.
We: cloth diaper full time, breastfeed, babywear most of the time, mostly gentle discipline (except when I get a little stressed with my son... he is 2), use no chemicals, no plastics, eat semi-healthy food, recycle, mama cloth (well soon anyways since I haven't really "started").
I say newly crunchy because all of this evolved after the birth of my son. He was (eek) circumsized. I really hate that now. It makes me feel awful. I was really uneducated about it.
We do vaccinate and we buy organic when we can afford it.
