It's nice to see other moms w/ a pack of boys and that it's not just me
And as far as solids, I'm still not 100% on what I'm going to try 1st
I keep reading and reading and I'm so confused. I do know that I won't start with a cab and that's about it.
And I also started all of my other kids off on Rice. I just assumed that was the way to do it and never really questioned it. But the more I look into it, the more I can understand the logic of fruits and veggies 1st. So my plan this time around is to start with something like Banana (It was avocado, now I'm thinking Banana LOL) - then move to other fruits and veggies. Once he's doing well with that, then I'll introduce a low allergy risk carb like rice or oat. So my guess is, he will have iron fortified cereal in his diet by 7 - 7 1/2 months. (if you are thinking about F&V 1st, you may also want to read up on introducing solids to the BF baby and Iron intake and absorption after cereal is introduced).
I was going to discuss this with my Family Dr. (we don't see a ped.) but I can't stand my Dr. She's incompetent on a good day, but I'm stuck w/ her. I have contacted my public Health Nurse who is fairly granola

and she said that my plans for 1st foods are great and to go ahead with it.
I really don't want to be one of those moms who comes to a decision about something like this and only listens to what I want to hear or asks a dozen health professionals the same question until one agrees with me. But I really don't trust my Dr. and even if I did, it's still healthy and important to question medical advice and to do your own research (aside from message boards and word of mouth too of course LOL). And I do trust Dr. Sears and my Health Nurse.
Basically, if you are thinking about fruits and veggies as 1st foods and holding off on cereal, look into it and meet with your Dr. to talk about it. Now, I'd also bring in information on it b/c not every Dr. is 100% current on everything. I have read a few times where mom's were told by her Dr. to give their 3-4 month old juice and cereal (or "real food") through the day because the Dr. claimed that there is no way formula could possibly satisfy their baby (so like what, juice and cereal w/ fewer calories will?

). And we all know that there ins't 1 medical organization that would support juice and cereal for a 3 month old and now.. Not even for a 4 month old. So that's proof for me that not every Dr. dishes out the best or most current advice all the time
Oh man, sorry so long winded, It's nap time and I can't help but babble away
