Default Hello, and question

I just began posting on SK, so I should introduce myself. I'm Emily, I'm 22, and I have 2 daughters. My next child is due in mid August. My question is about baby wearing. I never used a sling or wrap with my girls, but I really want to with this next baby, and I was wondering if anyone had preferences or advice on which one to get. I really like the Hotslings, but I'm afraid the wraps would be too warm in the heat of the summer. (I live in TX.) Any advice would be MARVELOUS.

I'm from West Texas (but living in NC) and I have a hotsling. I LOVE IT! They are really not that thick, so I think you would be fine with one in the hot Texas heat. I got mine off e-bay for $20 so if you don't want to spend the $40+ on it I'd look there

I second checking out the WAHMs on eBay. The pattern I have for a pouch sling would work quite nicely with a cotton knit or even a muslin/calico.

I used ring slings with my bigger kids, but am looking forward to seeing what ds2 thinks of his pouches; they really weren't that hard to throw together so he has about seven of them.

Be careful on ebay. You want to make sure you are getting one made well and with strong enough fabric. Slinglings has a great deal where you buy two and get one free. Maybe split the price with a friend or something. I know there are great ones on ebay, you just have to be careful you get one of the good ones.

I love the Belle baby carrier - I just got it last week and have used it non-stop with my 2-month old! She falls asleep immediately, and it's super comfortable since the weight is on my hips instead of my shoulders. I found with my sling that I wasn't truly hands-free, and always worried about my baby, however with this carrier, it is 100% hands free and pure comfort. I can also nurse - HUGE bonus!
