Update on speech therapy
We got the results of Mason's examination. He does qualify for speech therapy through our County school board.
He'll start in late Feb, going Mon-Thur, from 11:30-2:00 at the Elementary school that he'll eventually go to for Kindergarten. My neighbor's son went thru the same program a few years ago and say he did great and really enjoyed it.
He scored 80's, which 100 is average, but anywhere from 85-115 is still considered average, so he was just below. They're expecting one year of therapy, but that will be determined by his teacher as he goes if he'll need to go longer. He did 100 in labeling pictures and describing things and also in his articulation (how he pronounces things), his problem areas are communication and language. Which is what I've been saying. He doesn't seem to communicate like he should be. He's getting so much better all the time and they expect he will do really well in therapy.
He's been saying "why is this not working?", which is an excellent sentence!! And I'm so proud, but he does still use ALOT of jargon and when he doesn't know what to say he'll use jargon. He also doesn't answer questions correctly sometimes. She said his language and communication developement is scattered which is a good way to describe it!
I'm glad they are working fairly quick on getting him help!!
