Why can't anything in this world be simple?? I just found out today that my insurance doesn't cover infertility......I go on Wed morning to the RE. They gave me a quote on how much just the first visit would cost.....$325.00. That's just the office visit and and ultra sound. Can anyone tell me what other costs could come up?? (I know it's $75.00 for the S/A.) I have never done this before, and I am worried we'll have to wait to do anything else until I find better insurance. Any suggestions??

Dh and I don't get health insurance through our work.......they don't offer it. We have to get individual insurance, which is why mine is so crappy...

Jess, I'm sorry. That is really expensive. But it is typical pricing. I answered you in "our" post but was I said was maybe you should call your GYN office to see what they can do in house where you don't have to see a fertility specialist.

Sorry Jess. I hope your GYN can help you out. I know the feeling of having to get your own insurance. I will finally have insurance again once my 90 days is up at my new job. But I might not go with them My husband has decided to join the military again. If that's the route we go, then I will definitely be on his insurance for sure. Good luck!

i know that the hospital i go to offers a payment plan and theres no interest and no time limit to pay it off. i just make a simple payment everymonth. oh and i had to fight with my insurance company and i finally got them to cover some cost as long as it was considered "diagnostic" and not ivf treatment. the insurance co dosnt know the difference but after i spoke with them they gave in to some cost. maybe yours would too? good luck!

Ah, that stinks! I would call the RE and have them fax you a price sheet. My RE gave me a price list of everything on our first visit. I know some banks will do loans for things like this! Good luck...tomorrow right?
