Default Where to begin

I'm new to the boards, but have frequented them in the past when my sister was going through the heartbreak of a miscarriage and then finally her last pregnancy.

Now its my turn...

My husband and I have been married a year August 5, 2006 and we've been trying since then to get pregnant. I was on the birth control for 7 years up to August 06 and went off of it in hopes of making a baby. The practice has been great but unfortunatly still no baby. I had one period in October 06 and the rest is history. No period, no ovulation, no baby . I keep hearing that things will fall into place in their own time, but the longer my period doesnt show up the more heartbroken and discouraged I get. Each passing month is one more month that I have no hope of getting pregnant. My sister has been through this game as well, and until now I don't believe I had a full understanding of her heartbreak. After my period in October or I should day at the beginning of my period in October I started using Fertility Friend, and at Cycle day 199 I quit, Fertility Friend stops charting for you after 199 and watching my temperatures go up and down and knowing there wasnt any possiblities of getting pregnant I gave up that venture.

I've read other posts on the board and all of you guys seem to have developed such warm, caring, thoughtful, supportive friendships. Do you have room for one more who is despearting trying to have a baby? I'm not begging for friendship I know that that kind of thing will fall into place, but I guess I am looking for some support from others going through this whole emotional roller coaster of TTC with me.

Sincerly
Taryn

Hi Taryn there's always room for more of us here

So you've been trying for a year to get pg...........have you mentioned it to your doctor?

I know some of the girls on here have had to take Provera to bring on their period so they can start a new cycle.

If you ask your doctor about this he/she may refer you to a specialist where you'll get much more information and hopefully a solid plan of action!

There are lots of ladies on here who know TONS about trying to conceive. Hopefully someone who knows more than I do will spot your post

I second what Holly said! My doctor has said that women shouldn't go longer than 3 months without a period . . . if that happens, I get provera, and kick start a new cy.

I have PCOS - I either get no periods, or I tend to hemorrhage. But, since I've been on metformin, I seem to be ovulating and getting my period every month. So, a little bloodwork and a few tests could help you find out what is going on, and there may be a diagnosis for why you aren't ovulating. There are so many different options depending on the problem - metformin, clomid, etc. I would go about the business of finding out what is happening to you, and working with your doctors to develop a plan of action! GL.

Thanks girls, I believe its time as well. When I seen the doctor last he had told me that if things didnt get back on track to come see him in October. That was of course a year ago... Makes me a bit nervous specially Tkeys your doctor say wemon shouldnt go three months without one.

Ill call tomorrow to see if I can get in either the 23-24 as I've got those days off from work as my husband and I are moving my mother inlaw to his sisters.

Holly, I think you know more then you think... I've lurked on some of the boards and read what you've said.

Thank you both for listening to me whine I really appreciate it, and feel in someways I'm no longer in this alone!

first of all welcome welcome welcome!!! As someone already started there is always room for more! Hopefully though we don't like people staying here very long with no BFP. So i hope you get a BFP soon.
I also have to agree with the other ladies here and say to defenitly call your doctor!! You may have PCOS or maybe thyroid problems that are causing you not to get your periods. There can be a number of things going on with you, but a lot can be treated as well.
I hoe you will get some answers soon, and they can do something for you and you will be seeig a BFP very soon.
I also can have long cycles as well, so i know how frustrating that can be. I am on cd 40 something right now. Though I have been a member of this board for a long time I am not TTC quite yet. I have a 7 month old, but am plaing on TTC again around Nov.
Good luck and keep us posted

Welcome Taryn!

I totally agree with a trip to the dr. It took me 4 1/2 years for my first and another 4 1/2 years for my 2nd, my 3rd was quite a surprise. We have been trying now since January and have given ourselves until April of next year to concieve. If we don't then hubby is going for a big V. We are going to take things to the dr. in Jan if a baby doesn't happen on it's own.

Good luck sweetie, I hope things turn around for you soon

Michelle,
I've actually done very little with my doctor, when I last seen him I had been without a period for about 4 months and he said that come October this year if things were still out of wack to come back then. My sister who is a herbologist suggested that maybe I had some adreno issues as I had bp issues when I was younger. I've go a wack load of herbs and such I'm taking at the moment in hopes of getting things back under control, and I have to admit I am feeling better taking them. I've also started going to the gym in hopes of just feeling better all around, and I'm happy I'm doing that small thing for myself. Going to the doctor this time around will be the first big step I've taken in admitting that maybe there is something more with my system. I have had so many ppl tell me it takes awhile for the Birth Control pill to get out of your system and that in time things will get back to normal, I'm a big girl and have been told that the BCP can stay in your fat, so I thought well maybe, though it seemed a little funny to me... but thought oh well what the hell Ill lose some weight take some herbs and take better care of myself and things will just slip into place. Over the last couple of months I've felt that I've hit bottom and now feel that maybe maybe there is more I can be doing... and with the advise of all you wonderful ladies I'm off to take the next step to see what I can do in hopes of helping my quest of having a family.

Ciao for now.

i went on bcp when i was 14 and was on them untill i was 21. we tried for almost a year when the doc said i had to go back on bcp! long story but basically my cy were really messed up. so the second time around i was on them for 7 months and got pg my second month off of them.

everyone is different on the time it takes the pill to leave their system. it sounds more like you may have a hormonal embalance then it does being an issue of the pill.

keep us posted on that doc apt!

welcome, The ladies on here are a great help. I have been on this board since my dh and I started trying the have a baby in July of '04. I am so glad that I have found them. They have really been a life saver. I hope that you figure out what is up with your cycles. I am the same way with LONG cycles. We were able to conceive our dd by doing an IUI with follistim injectables. Hopefully you won't have to go that far. I am sure that your dr will know how to help you.

We are always here for encouragement.

Good luck and lots of babydust coming your way.

Welcome Taryn!!!

I had been in BCP for 10 yrs. prior to TTC. I also have a hx of irregular cycles, so I can relate to what you've been going through this past year! I had to take Provera (prescription Progesterone supplement) to bring on 3-4 cycles after I had a m/c last fall b/c my periods just wouldn't start up again after the m/c. But then after the 3-4 Provera cycles and periods, I started menstruating on my own w/ a 35-36 day cycle. I would definitely recommend talking to your dr. about why you are not menstruating. I know some of the tests my regular OB/GYN ran for me to see why my cyles weren't regular incl. blood tests to check thyroid, hormone levels (estrogen/progesterone/testosterone), and rule out PCOS. Another factor could be your weight. Are you particularly thin w/ a Body Mass Index of less than 18% body fat? My dr. couldn't find any particular reason for my irreg. cycles but the good news is after a year of TTC it finally happened for me! I think you are in the right place for support and working w/ your drs. will help to make this process easier and quicker!

Good luck and baby dust to you!!!

Welcome. I have been a member of this board since 2002. I know the pain all to well. I just wanted to say please go to the dr and get something to bring on af. The longer you go with out shedding the lining the greater risk of Uterine cancer. I went 6 years with out AF and I have had major problems resulting from that.

You all are absolutly right. I've got a Dr Appointment on the 22 in the morning. It will be the first time with this doctor as I've had such a difficult time finding a family physician. A lady doctor at that, so that should be good. Ill have to take a print out of my 199 cycle from fertilityfriend before I quit LOL write all my questions, concerns and our plan to continue to try to have a baby, hopefully she will be able to give me some feedback and some thoughts.

Thank you all for your insights, thoughts, and most of all your encouragement and feedback. I feel as though I'm apart of a link and not faceing this discouraging quest on my own. It gives me comfort to know that others have/are going through similiar issues as I am.

I'm so glad to hear you are going to the DR. I have had all male drs, but for my first's birth my dr's partner was on.. a lady! She was amazing! You could tell she understood exactly what I was going through, and when things took a turn for the worse, you could see the pain in her face when she told us we needed to head for the OR. I hope you have found a doctor who is just as wonderful. (ps.. the dr who delivered ds1 moved away, or she would have been my first choice!) Keep us posted, we are all here for you

Well, how frustrated am I. VERY VERY !! They cancelled my appointment!! So I've got to reschedule hopefully today, the girls who are at the front desk are rude, ignornant and not very good at what they do. I had read some reviews on the doctor I was going to see and there were more reviews on the front desk girls then the doctor themselves LOL I know why now.

I was speaking with my mom last night I said yeah they cancelled my appointment. Now what, I said my foot hurts (which is the other reason I was going to the doctor) I think I've got bad heal spurrs or maybe something but im kind of a hop along right now. I'm too tired to have sex, and even if I could I've got no chance of getting preggo. WOW I'm falling apart. She just laughed at me. At least there is some humor in this. Unfortunatly though I was banking on that appointment to hopefully have some kind of answers going into the month of September. Something more definite, some kind of plan of action. ANYTHING!! Stupid doctors office.

Oiy.. I know how it can be when you have a crappy dr's office to deal with. We live just outside of a pretty small town. The town has one BIG thing going for it.. it is a HUGE hospital. There are virtually no doctor's offices in this town. The hospital contols every medical aspect (even in the vision department!!). They have a very large clinic on their campus.. yes it is a campus that is larger than some of the towns around here! They are staffed by mostly med students, with one or two supervising dr's. So to go there, you get seen by the student, then wait forever to be seen by the actual dr to see if the student did things right. They are very impersonal.. they hardly look at you and sit at a desk reading questions off of a computer screen, and you are litterally diagnosed by that computer!!! (Now how in the hell are those students learning ANYTHING???) We just actually found 1 small dr's office just on the other side of town that is independant, and his hospital affiliation is the hospital in a neighboring town. We switched to him.. it is soooo much nicer there! I can't believe the difference! We will always be gaurenteed to see the same dr.. he is the only one there, he listened to what I thought was going on with the kids when I took them for their check ups (the other place said I wasn't feeding my dd because she litterally has only gained 3 pounds since she was 6 months old, she is 2 1/2 now the new dr said well you see her daily does she seem healthy to you?.. umm yes!!! She has an aunt who is only 4' 9" and 95 lbs!!). Sorry .. I'm going on and on... just wanted you to know you aren't the only one with a crappy office to deal with..lol. I hope they get you in soon
