mom called this afternoon to say that my father is in the hospital. last night he had a101 deg. temp, and his left leg, from the knee to the ankle was inflamed and hot to the touch, had a headache and some pain in the groin on the same side(as the leg). since an op in 74, he hasn't had much feeling in the leg, so he couldn't tell if he had an infection. He takes a pain killer for a wasting bone disease and you're not suppose to take it if you have infection because it makes it worse. so with no feeling in the leg, he continued to take the meds. they got his temp to 98 this am, but its back to 101 and he's lost his appetite and his kidneys aren't working very well. They've done some tests, but the results are not back yet.its so sad to see him deteriorate with the bone disease..he stood at one time nearly 6'6, now he's just under 6'4..now all of this other trouble. he's 63 yrs old. thank you so much everyone for your prayers.My father is doing much better now,might be able to come home tomorrow. His kidneys are now working, CAT scan of his abdomen came back ok. they have him on some strong antibiotics and the redness in his leg is starting to give way to his natural skin color. dr. told my mom that the infection that he has is called cellulosis...(or something that sounds like that..mom had a hard time pronouncing it). Anyway, he's doing much better and eating like a horse and is back to his spunky self; thank you again for your prayers.debra
