Hi ladies,
Just wanted to let you know that Giacomo was born Aug 9th @11:55pm weighing 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long
I arrived at the hospital around 8:30pm after seeing some bloody fluid at home. The doctor checked me and i was only 1cm dilated but decided to keep me overnight for observation since I was overdue.
They hooked me up to the machines, but unfortunately the contractions were'nt registering so I was left there as if I was just having some minor contractions.. At 10pm the dr came in to check me and to everyones surprise I was 10 cm and ready to start pushing.
They wheeled me up to the delivery room and I pushed for a while, until he was born at 11:55PM.. so basically 1cm to birth in a little over 3 hrs.. Not bad for a first timer, huh?? AND... completely unmedicated!
I had to get an episiotomy which was by far the worst part of the whole thing bc my hospital didnt even give me a tylenol or anything for the pain even after the birth.
All in all, the birth went great. I basically focused through the pain and it was completely tolerable.

That's amazing that it went so fast. I'm hoping for a shorter labor next time around, first one lasted 16 hrs. Took 6 hours to go from 5 cm to birth.
I'm so glad you had the experience you wanted. I hear ya on the episiotomy. I didn't have one but I did have a tear and my doc stitched me up without any meds. Figured wth, I'd gone this far why stop and give a painkiller now. But I did get darvocet after the birth and needed it!
