What was the reason cited for your c-section?
Just curious what the reasons were for your c-sections??
And you can choose more than one answer....

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
I had my c-section because I did not respond to being induced. I was induced on a Thursday (about 4 days past my edd) and nothing ever happened. I never got contractions. I had a bit of lower back pain but nothing too painful. The next day my doctor examined me and noted that my cervix had only dilated to 1.5. She had another doctor come in and check my pelvic structure and they agreed that labor would be hard and long and that the baby may get stuck. So I was given the option to go home and wait it out or stay for the c/s. I stayed and had my baby like an hour later. I wouldn't change a thing about it all. I never had any pain from the c/s and recovery went pretty fast.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
For my first, I was induced at 2 weeks past due. Baby tried coming out 'forehead first' and so I never progressed past 5cm. After 48 hrs of induced labor (ouch), they decided to do the c-section.
For my third (second was a VBAC), it was due to nervous doctors. I was again almost 2 weeks past due. My 2nd child had been 8lb 15oz and I'd needed forceps. They were concerned that I'd have an even larger baby and have difficulties with a vaginal birth. I argued until the day before she was born and then I finally decided to schedule the c-section. I went into labor that morning but when they hooked me up to the monitors and her heartrate was dropping with each contraction, I decided not to argue with the section. It turned out she had the cord around her neck twice, however she was only 8lb 2oz. So I'm still not sure if my decision was the right one.
And unfortunately, now that I've had two c-sections, no doctors around here will consider letting me VBAC again so I'll be having my third c/s in October.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
We are getting ready for our first c-section - which will be scheduled. We have been fighting a WAR with gestational diabetes and the baby is TOO large to be born...we don't have a whole lot of info on the process so it is a bit scary! So, the baby is due in 4 weeks - but we expect the surgery in about 2 weeks or so....

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
An u/s estimated that my son was bigger than what he ended up being, and my dr didn't think my pelvis was big enough for him.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
Carter was bopping back and forth between breech and transverse presentation, and the hospital here had lawyered out breech delivery attempts, so unless I'd had a home birth, which I wasn't personally comfortable with, then c-section was the only option at the hospital. I had a manual version attempt, toughed it out through three attempts with my OB and a midwife working together pushing on my belly to try to move him, and he was just budged solidly where he wanted to be I also regularly saw a chiropractor for adjustments and the Webster Technique for turning breech babies, but he never flipped. Had a scheduled dated of April 9th-and surprisingly, after NEVER having my water break w/my vaginal deliveries with my girls, and having 17 and 12 hour labors before their births, my water broke the afternoon of the 8th, I was in a precipitous labor with piggybacking contrax and arrived at the hospital at 7cm (NO prior contrax that day-just some minor discomfort), and actually had him in the late afternoon/early evening of April 8th, about 2 1/2 hrs after my water broke.
So, for someone who was very disappointed about having to have her C, I love that I got to go into labor first and have an exciting story to tell about DS's birth And I feel like I went through every available channel and route to avoid the C, so by the time I had it I was ready to have a good attitude about it even though it wasn't what I'd planned on.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
I was given the failure to progress label after 1.5 hours of pushing, failed induction is more like it. Evan was born via VBAC w/ no problems.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
My DD was a c-section baby. I had pre-eclampsia and my BP went pretty off the charts even with being on magnesium sulfate. Since Loralei didn't drop and I was stuck at 4-5 cm for 9 hours with being induced and on pitocin... well I guess that didn't help my BP (shot up to somewhere around 200/180).
Turns out my DD was stuck on or in my small pelvis. I was pretty shocked that my even with my pelvis doing what it should do; it just couldn't get spread wide enough to pass out an average 7 lb 6oz 20" baby.
My new doc checked my pelvis and told me no way would she want me to labor; I am going to schedule my c-section at my next appointment. Because of the risk of pre-e again and her not wanting me to go through the trauma I went through with Loralei; I will have my section probably on January 9th.
The first time with my daughter I felt defective. My new doc has assured me I'm not- heck I have a healthy thriving 2 year old! And since I finally got pregnant again on cycle #17 I can finally deal with having to always be a section; just as long as I have this baby, I don't care how.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
My 1st section happened b/c of PE. I went for an apt that day, my Dr. discovered the problem, sent me to L&D to be induced ASAP. They tried for hours to get things going... They even broke my water. At 11 PM, things got really bad really fast w/ myself and my son so I had a crash section which I was not awake for. It was all very sudden.
W/ the twins.. My Dr. wanted a section b/c of where the placentas were, the fact the babies still switched positions so freely and very frequently, twins & I've had several abdominal surgeries and a past section. I was upset about the thought of another section so he spoke to several other Dr.'s in the city and 1 MW to see if they would be willing to assist in a vag. delivery.. And not one of them felt comfortable w/ it.
This time.... I thought there may be a slim chance that I could avoid a section b/c I'm pg w/ a singleton. But after talking w/ my Dr I found out that it wasn't going to happen. 2 sections, too many scars in general, uterus is thin (whatever that means).. So.. Here we go.. Round 3

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
Both kids decided to get stuck in the breech position on me at 30 weeks or so. I refused a version after hearing that it is only 50% effective and researching for days. I wanted a VBAC but DD was just as stubborn as her big brother.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
Failure to progress, only went to 7 cm, and my son was in distress, so I ended up with an emergency c-section. He was also a big baby, 8lbs 2 oz's.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
1st c-section was a failuer to progress, 22-23 hours hard labour, never made it past a few cm dilated. (3 I think) AFter so many hours, my son was in distress.
The next two c sections were scheduled. They went MUCh better than a long labour followed by a c-section. Baby #4 will be a c/s too.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
I was exactly like Gwensmom...was overdue with #1, and never went into labour. I never dropped, I never had a contraction...they put me on the drip, and still nothing.
They too told me I could go home or go into surgery right now. We opted for surgery. Sad thing is they didn;t give me enough freezing, I felt some of the cutting...not painful, but I could tell she was cutting and where.
Our daughter was born at 11:59 pm, she was already getting wrinkly, and had meconium all over her, when she came out her lung burst a hole, and she needed neonatal care for a couple days while her lung healed.
Second baby, was a planned c-sec...it was another perfect pregnancy, he came out perfect, and we decided to take him 1 week earlier.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
Yes, she is perfect now. She was able to be released the day I was, actually they put her in with me the night before, so we had one night together before going home.
But all her first 2 day picture have the tubes, and oxygen and monitors all hooked onto her. That meconium is a real pain to clean off too, it's like tar.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
Other:
because i went in on sunday night at 6pm to be induced (2 days after my due date) and i was not even thined out any so they gave me cervidil (spelling?)untill 6 am monday morning and i was haveing lots of ctx but i only thined out a little and was 1-2 cmthen they started me on pitocin and was on it all day by 7pm monday night there was still no progress and so my doc sent me for an u/s and they said the baby didn't have much water in the sac and was about 8lbs 4 oz and so the doc came up and said that the baby was too big (doc said he thought she was about 9 lbs) and that they would have to take her by c/s so at 8:24pm on monday night madison was born ...7lbs 10oz 19.5in. and she was covered in vernix and said she was about a week or two early... so i deeply believe the doc took her bys c/s cause if not he would have to send us home with a failed try at induction and i would just have to go do it all over again in a week or so

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
My DS#1 was a c/s for "CPD" After getting to 10cm and pushing 2 hrs he didn't move down. They said he was too big (8lb 15oz). My DS#2 was an all natural VBAC, 8lb 14oz (another big one, so much for CPD!) and wonderful. So now I say my c/s was due to me being uneducated about what I could do.

Re: What was the reason cited for your c-section?
The first time around I was induced at a week over due. They did the cervidil at 5:30 pm, by the next morning I'd only dilated to 1 cm, then they started the pit. After 24 hours on the pit, I'd only dilated to 3 cm (and no epidural, my hospital didn't give them until 3.5 cm!). At that point my doctor said they thought DS was bigger then they projected (u/s two days ealier said 8 lbs) and thats why I wasn't progressing. I agreed to the c-section and DS was 10 lbs 5 oz. This time around I'll be having another c-section because my last one was "traumatic" (doc's word not mine). Apparently DS was so large that they had to actually remove my uterus and cut a larger then normal incision in order to get him out. They are afraid labor would put too much pressure on my uterus.
