Default scar tissue from c-section?

I had to have a second incision made for my last c-section, bc I had a complete placenta previa and they wanted to avoid cutting through the placenta, so its a couple inches above my others. I had SOOOOO much trouble healing from this incision-there was a part in the middle that was open forever and it didn't fully heal until after 8 weeks postpartum (wound care was NOT fun!). So at my new scar line, I have a hard almost golf ball sized lump right beneath the area of part of my scar. This is exactly in the area that took FOREVER to heal. I thought it would go away, but now I am thinking its not. My husband think its scar tissue, just bc of where it is (in that pesky area that refused to heal). Anyone else ever dealt with anything like that? Should I worry about it?

It sounds like scar tissue, which doesn't usually go away on its own. I know after my first I had some scar tissue at the right side and it was hard. The doctor removed during my second c/s. I don't have any scar tissue now.

I would talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks.

Your kids are adorable by the way!

I just stumbled upon your post while attempting to research my own issue with c-section scar tissue. I don't have an answer, but just thought I would let you know that there is someone else out there with the same thing. I just had DD#2 in May '07 (my 2nd c/s) and the right side of my incision took forever to heal. I even returned to my dr prior to my 6 week check-up because it remained open and leaked (sorry, TMI). When I needed to have my annual exam done, some 4 months later, I brought the newly forming 'hard spot' to my dr's attention. Her only explanation was that it was more than likely scar tissue. I wish I would have thought to ask her more about it at that time.

Now here I am, 3 months away from daughter's 1st bday, and I still have this pesky lump. It occasionally bothers me, especially if I sneeze or get up suddenly. It has a sort of pulling feeling..hard to explain. I plan on asking about it when I go back for my yearly exam in September, but it does worry me a bit. I really don't want them to have to go back in and remove anything - but I don't know if I want to have this thing hanging around for the rest of my life either. Good luck to you! If you do go to your OB/Gyn, I would love to hear what they have to say...sassue2u@yahoo.com
