Default Larger moms and healing? (specifically if you have a roll of tissue hanging over?)

Just looking for advice on healing from other larger moms ... I had an emer. csection on Oct 27 with my son ... had my daughter vaginally so this is all new to me!

I feel fine actually but I am really worried about healing ... I have a large roll of fat basically that hangs over where the incision is, so I have to hold it up and dry really good and let it air dry several times a day, as well as wear a pad over it to keep moisture away ...

My question is to anyone who had a similar situation ... will it heal? Will it take longer? I am so paranoid about it getting infected or opening up ....

Any advice appreciated!

I have had two c-sections, the first I didn't have the roll hanging over too much. But with my second I did. I just tried to lift it up as much as I could and kept the incision dry. I didn't notice that it took longer to heal than the first and it did not get infected or open. Good luck and I hope you recover quickly :-)

I was 263 @ delivery so yea, I had the roll Keep that pad on, keep the incision area clean and dry and it should be about 2-3 weeks. I had DH help me with my incision. He'd clean it because I couldn't see it well enough and help me get the pad in the right spot, and check for redness for me. I was really worried going in but I was amazed at how good it's turned out!

Congrats on your baby!!!!

I also had the roll. Healed up perfectly fine and the scar looks amazing now. I still have that roll though and an indention about 1in thick above it. I don't know what that is or if it'll go away.

I have the same thing
I didn't get it after my 1st section.... it showed up after my 2nd. I was told it will never completely go away (without surgery). Wonderful.
Luckily, I've never had any problems healing. I made sure to dry it really well, and also used pads. Sometimes now, I use cornstarch to help keep it from getting red and irritated.

How do you use pads on it? I got the *roll* after my 2nd c-section......so I know it will be there w/ my third. I always just held my roll up and let the incision dry after showers etc....mine came open on one end...but was fine at my 8wk appt. So not looking forward that part of the birth.
