Default A must have for homebirthers (XPosted)

For my homebirth, I had a stack of old towels set aside to use, but we used them up pretty quickly. I had Tim bring me a towel and it was one of our better towels, but I didn't care at that point. Well, it sat for a good 24 hours probably and was pretty well soaked in blood. It looked like someone had been killed I'm sure. I decided to soak all the towels we used in oxyclean and see how it went. I put them in the bathtub in super hot water and put quite a bit of the powder in and let them soak overnight. They came out of the wash and there is not ONE discolored spot or blood stain on any of them (probably 8 towels total!) I knew this stuff was good, but man, that's pretty amazing!!

Definitely something you need to have on hand for after your birth!! It can save your sheets, towels and even your carpet if you happen to get blood on them.

Awesome

Since we are renting and have light cream carpets... too dark for bleach!

I may have to break down and buy some. I try to stay green in my cleaners.. but oxyclean could have a place after a homebirth,LOL! Last time I don't think we got blood anywhere... not sure how we managed that one, lol!

For those who can't use bleach, I'd say stock up on hydrogen peroxide - that'll get the blood out of anything & everything without staining or leaving a mark.
