Tips:
"Fill unlubicated condoms with water and freeze them, perfect size and shape ice pack, for mommy after birth."~Michelle (chelele)
"I soaked some sanitary pads in water, shaped them and froze them. They felt great afterwards when I was lying around in bed. Obviously you wouldn't want to walk around with a frozen pad in as it would leak as it melted! doh!"~Megan (SunnyAZ)
"Fill a glove half up with ice, put a little water in it, and wrap it in a dry baby wipe. It works great. A ziploc bag & paper towel would also work." ~Steph (NaturNurse)
Keep at least half a tank of gas in your car. ~Monica (Monicas3girls)
"We put one clean set on the bed and pillows, then put a shower curtain on top to protect the bed (from the dollar store, attach with diaper pins) then put one set of sheets on top of that. The pillows all go into garbage bags, pin them closed and put pillowcases over top. The midwife told me to sterilize by putting them into the dryer (hottest setting) for about 10 minutes longer than it takes to dry them thoroughly after washing."~Moni (swissmom1)
"We used a heating pad to warm up receiving blankets to wrap and dry the baby after she was born. You could use a hot water bottle for that too." ~Moni (swissmom1)
"Red Raspberry leaf tea is great to have on hand. Iced, since it will be summer, or frozen into ice cubes."~Lisa (TraditionalMama)
"Don't forget to use the olive oil on baby's butt to keep the miconium from sticking!"~Andrea (OAndrea)

Re: ~*~Homebirthing Supplies, Tips, & Links~*~
I used that second pool above ( http://qualityinflatables.com/58480.html ) and it was perfect! I am 5'7 and didnt have any issues with it being too small at all! It stayed warm for quite awhile too and didnt take too long to fill. If I ever have another baby I will definately use that pool again.

Re: ~*~Homebirthing Supplies, Tips, & Links~*~
If you want cloth underpads instead of those noisy, sticky, nasty Chux, here's the best price I've found for them:
http://www.valethics.com/buy-recl-pads.htm
They haven't had the cheapest ones available on eBay for some time, but the next price up isn't too bad and the shipping was the same for ten as it was for one. Even if you're not planning on any more babies, I still think it was worth it at that price since they will come in handy for ECing, leaky dipes at night, leaky breasts, sitting on without a pad, etc.
Cascade has a good price on towels, too, if you can't find enough at your local thrift store.

Re: ~*~Homebirthing Supplies, Tips, & Links~*~
I don't mean for this to sound like a stupid question...but how do you get the water out of the pool once the birth is over? A friend of mine and I are starting school to be a CM this fall. TIA

Re: ~*~Homebirthing Supplies, Tips, & Links~*~
I'm renting an Aqua Doula and it comes with a pump to empty out the water. I have a teenaged son who has volunteered to help out with the pump after the birth, since I am UCing, but I would expect a midwife to handle that if I was using one, since they have always taken care of such chores for me when I have used them in the past for land births.
The only stupid question is the one you never find the answer to because you are afraid to ask.

We filled our pool with a hose hooked up to the kitchen sink, too drain it we had to siphon (sp?) it out into the backyard.

Re: ~*~Homebirthing Supplies, Tips, & Links~*~
Also that is not a stupid question at all, throughout my whole pregnancy my husband stressed over how we would empty it out! I kept forgetting to ask the midwife, he was in suspence until I was in labor and needed the water changed to make it warmer.
