Default hi there! :)

i was glad to find this board still here! i posted here a few years ago when i was pg with my now 2 y/o.

my name is jenn, i'm 25. dh is john. we have been married almost 5 years, and have two babies. we're originally from the philly burbs, in chesapeake virginia now, and it's looking like denver in february.

kayleigh (4 next month) was a epi/navy hospital birth, which drew me to look for other options. i ended up having ethan at home with a midwife, loved (almost) every minute of it.

we're due with #3 in january, and using the same midwife. super excited, and super surprised, lol.

also looking for hwlp weaning the two year old. i can't do the tandem thing again. it was super stressful. any ideas??

I didn't intend to wean Chris, but it wound up happening without either of us realizing it. He was a fairly big boy and sometimes he would ask to nurse when I was busy doing other things (washing the dishes, gheklping his sister with her schoolwork, etc.) so I would ask him to wait. Then HE would get busy and forget. The next thing we knew, he didn't nurse any more.

I tandemed my first two kids, so I understand how difficult it can be. I'm here for support if you change your mind, but certainly no snark or judgement if weaning is what is right for your family.

BTW, I'm Heather, looking forward to my fourth homebirth and first UC. I'm not due until February, so I have plenty of time to decide whether I want a UP or a midwife for prenatal care. I'm a single mama by choice and I have two kids, a teenager and an adult.

I grew up outside of Philly too, in North Hills/Glenside and I went to the Miquon Upper School in Chestnut Hill. I now live in Humboldt County, CA.

Default Re: hi there! :)

my biggest issue with nursing both is that ethan ONLY nurses at bedtime/naptime and all through the night. it's the all through the night thing we had issues with last time. my dd was 23mo when he was born. i weaned her a week after he was born. my dh was deployed, and if i was nursing her to sleep, and the boy woke, she's throw a mojor tantrum if i had to get up to get him. it was horrific. i weaned her cold turkey when he was a week old, it was the only was i was going to make it alone, lol.

this time i'd like to do it slower. he already starts the first part of the night in his own bed (although, i nurse him to sleep in it ... it's not like he falls asleep on his own. he turned two last month, and i feel like it's just a habbit to him now, like it was with my dd. we all need the sleep, lol. he used to just roll over and nurse, and we'd fall right back to sleep, but it hasn't been that way for at least 6 months. he makes an issue out of it, has to switch sides every few minutes, sits up and talks for a minute here, ect.

i'm just so exausted at the moment, even thinking of switching up the routine sounds even worse than getting the small amount of sleep i'm already getting, lol.
