Default vbac help needed in OKLahoma and ARkansas

Hello my name is Michelle Stiles I am a mommy of an 11 month old lil boy. I recently found out I was pregnant and found out via US I am 17 weeks along this week. I am writing in need of help because I had what at the time I thought was a neccessary c-sec but as it turned out was no where close to that. I was told I would die and the baby would die at 3 months prego if I went into labor. Cut the chase I got the c-sec at 38 when i went into labor and was forced to wait 6 hours for this life saving c-sec ( sense the sarcasim here) Well 2 days ago I talked to the same ob who did my c-sec with my son and due to lack of doctors and MW in my area I am pretty much stuck using her office they are the only office in Fort smith arkansas who does VBAC. She informs me 2 days ago that My orignal surgery my doctor at JOHNS Hopkins to remove adenomyosis ( 3cm piece of uterus) was done with an verticle midline incision, and so instead of recuting that same incision, She cut me else where, and that I have a 17-25% chance of rupture, now I have spent the last 2 days crying and literally in hell , I will not just lay down for another "GUTTING" I need help finding the facts, I will have my medical records with in the next few weeks, and will be talking extensively with my specialist who did the original surgery. BTW I am already aware that HBAC is out of the question, but I just want to do a vbac.

thanks,

I would go to ICAN online and see what they have to say. I must say it doesn't seem your chances are good, but I guess it would depend on when your uterine surgery was. If it was before you got pg the first time and they were going to let you have a vaginal birth, then it stands to reason your risk of rupture should be about the same as a normal mom doing a VBAC. If it has been since the birth of your first, I can see why they are concerned as now you have to 2 scars to deal w/ making 2 'weak' spots on your uterus. I'm going to assume it was after he was born since the few links I've read link it to after childbirth, specifically after a c/s. It also seems the surgery you had is a pretty rare treatment choice, but I don't know your circumstances and maybe other things were tried first. You are also under the reccomended 18 mos between births so that is not going in your favor either. As much as I too would hate another c/s, sometimes you have to think about what is going to be best for your babies. Big hugs!

I second the reccommendation to go to www.ican-online.org and join their discussion group, if you haven't already. The women there are incredibly knowledgeable & if there's anyone who can help you, it'll be them. You could also look up the chapters and find the one nearest to you. The chapter leader may have other options for you with regard to care providers.

Please let us know if there's anything we can do for you.
