Icon7 Questions about getting pregnant

Hi, I'm very new to all of this! My fiancee and I are getting married next May and would love to start trying for our first child shortly after that. What would some of you recommend that we start doing before that? Like should we go see my doctor and get started on some type of plan? Should I start taking some type of vitamins? Like I said I'm very new to this and we would love to conceive our first child on our honeymoon next May and surprise everyone at our reception back home. Any helpful advice would be great!

Thank you!!

Hi, I'm Debbie am fairly new to this board and definitely new to ttc. I will just let u know what I did before trying to conceive. I got all my vaccinations up to date like Hep B, Rubella, Chickenpox, I was a nurse also so vaccinations were important for me, but I think there important for everyone. Had to wait a little till it was safe after vaccinations and then started to take a pregnancy multivitamin. I had to see my GYN cos have PCOS so need intervention. It might be a good idea for you to see a Dr he can explain how to track your temp and use OPK's but the women on this site are very good at explaining them also. My GYN didn't mention it and am going to use OPK and temp tracking after talking to the women on this site they have lots of helpful advise. Good luck I hope you conceive on your honeymoon it sounds very romantic. Lots of babydust to you.

It is a great idea to have a preconception appointment with an OB. They can not only make sure you are healthy but they can answer any questions you have about TTC. You should also look into charting your cycles, it is especially helpful because you get a lot of knowledge about your cycle and you come to understand it more. I would also begin taking a vitamin just to be sure you are getting all eht vitamins your body needs. Best of luck with your marriage and TTC.

Thanks for the info! It is romantic, isn't it, trying to conceive on your honeymoon! I know a lot of newly weds are probably not for it, but I've been with my fiancee for 8 years now and we are so ready to have children!! Especially, since his brother just had their first child not to long ago. : ) I guess I have never really charted my menstrual cycle before, I am currently on birth control pills for my acne and just when ever I got to the green pill then it was time for my period to come. But I think I'll start charting it on a calendar to be more accurate! : ) When is the best time to conceive right before your period or after?

Thanks again!!

Most women ovulate about 14 days into their cycle. Cycle day 1 is the first day of your period. There is some useful info out there...I use a few different sites to learn about conception, but I highly recommend Fertility Mapto see the best days to try. Hope this helps!

I hope that it doesn't take you long to concieve that precious baby that you are looking for. I got pregnant with my second child on day 3 of my honeymoon. I stopped taking the pill the Saturday before our wedding, thinking it was going to take me a while to get pregnant after I stopped taking it. Well a week and a half later I got pregnant. So, good luck to you, have fun with it too!
