You will get it all figured out in time....I am still learning.
You should be counting the day after you ovulate as 1 DPO. For example if you O on Sept. 3 you would count Sept. 4 as 1 DPO. Have you looked into charting at all? I know lots of ladies on this site do it and they love it, it helps them figure out their CY. A great site is:

I am glad to know that I am not the only one. So let me ask you a question, do you count day of ovulation as dpo1? I am not sure when to test yet. I know that clearblue easy is making $$$$ from me LOL.
