Icon7 Another Newbie Added...

Hi All!!

My name is Ren, I am from Pennsylvania, USA. My husband and I have been married for nearly 3 1/2 years. I am a medical tech my husband is a RR employee and Pilot on the side.

We aren't TTC yet, but we have planned to TTC in Late July/Early August (depending on my O date, FF predicts my O date for that time to be August 5, the date we are working with).

As the good little future TTCer I am, I began taking Folic Acid and B6 about six weeks ago. And I am hoping to lost about 30lbs more than I have already lost before getting pregnant.

I think that sums up everything about me. And most other questions can have their answers found in my sig ;-)

I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello Ren! Welcome to the board! I am a newbie here myself! I have been lurking for some time, but am now actively TTC (and lovin' it ). I see you are from PA, me too what part (not to get too personal, but PA is a big state!) I am from south western PA --Pittsburgh exactly!

That is very interesting that your hubby is a pilot (that is something I always thought I would like to do--get my pilot's license, but I am scared to fly on big planes!)

Tou are such a great TTC taking all your vitamins! That is great you are going to be ready to go when you start TTC.

It was nice getting to know you and I hope to hear from you!

Ronda

Ren,

I was looking at your siggys and saw "I practice NRP". Maybe my brain isn't working right now, but what is that?

Thanks,
Ronda

Hi Ronda,

My blinkie says I practice NFP, Natural Family Planning. Dh and I have been using as contraception for three years, but we will use it to TTC soon :-)

And the B vitamins help to increase luteal phase. Right now, though, I take B-6 to increase creativity.

And Ronda, OMG, I live just north of Pittsburgh, about 30 min north... or an hour depending on the traffic ;-)

Ren,

Is NFP the same as or similar to I think it is calle Rhythm Planning (not sure if that is it, I haven't seen that one in a while).

If it a way to prevent pg without the aid of contraceptives, I think that is awesome and you are wise beyond your years. I have been on oral contraceptives since I was about 15 and now I am still waiting for "the AF" after my last pack, which i didn't even finish in November.

That is ver interesting about the B6. I was reading some other natual boosters on here.

Yeah, I hear 'ya about the traffic. I work north of Pittsburgh and some time it takes me an hour to get to work sometimes it takes an hour and if it snows it takes an hour and a half!

NFP is similar to rhythm method (rhythm was made popular through the Catholic church actually). Basically you take your basal body temp every morning, check your cervical mucous and chart your cycle. Avoid sex during fertile time if you are using it as a contraceptive or plan to have sex around your ovulation time if you are using it to TTC. Actually, dh and I just use an additional form of contraception around fertile times rather than abstaining (like a barrier or timing method).

I used to use an oral contraceptive (began it about 4 months before our wedding and then continued it for about three months after the wedding), but I really didn't like it and didn't like the way it made me feel. I was glad to get off it!!

With the winter weather predicted for tomorrow I am leaving for work EXTRA early!

Yes it was (another) rainy day here in Pittsburgh! As long as it doesn't freeze over I am okay, because I drive like a granny when there is even the smallest bit of snow!

Thank you for answering my question about NFP. I tottally agree with you about the birth control. In fact, I had to switch brands a few times because I would go off the "active" pills and would just cry over anything.
