Re: Are You In Your 30's And Pregnant? Come Here!!
Hi everyone! I am 30 and this is my 5th pregnancy. I have DS age 11, DS age 8, DD age 5, and one m/c last year. My EDD is Nov. 29th, 2008. I had my first U/S at 8 weeks 4days, transvagional, and the PA thinks she saw a second baby, but could not find it again, so we will see. I have a second u/s scheduled for 12 weeks. We are hoping for the best, since my 12 week appointment is when we lost the last baby.

Re: Are You In Your 30's And Pregnant? Come Here!!
Hello, everybody! My name is Mindy. I'm pretty new here, so I'm happy to see a topic like this one.
Well, how exciting, you may be pregnant with twins. One baby or two, pregnancy is still a beautiful thing! I hope to hear more about how your pregnancy is progressing and will keep you in thoughts and prayers.
I was pregnant last year with twins and had them at the age of 36. Yes, there are a lot of special circumstances for us "older" moms-to-be (My doctor actually told me we're called "ancient" among his colleagues).
I have a seven year old daughter, and my husband and I began trying for a second child when she was about two. It took us several years, and we were worried about my age becoming a factor in getting and staying pregnant.
Women our age usually fall into the "high-risk" category, so when I became pregnant, especially because it was with twins, I saw my own doctor plus a specialist throughout my entire pregnancy. At about 10 weeks, I had a scare that I thought would turn out to be a miscarriage. This terrified my husband and I because I had a miscarriage before having our daughter, and we just didn't want that to happen again. We went to the hospital and during the ultrasound, found that my bleeding was caused by a "sub-chorionic bleed" and that the babies were still fine. Other than that incident, my pregnancy was picture-perfect. I had read about this before and it happened to my sister-in-law. It's just a very frightening thing when it sneaks up on you!
I felt very good throughout the pregnancy and I was told by the doctors that I was able to work (I'm a high school special education teacher) as long as I felt fine and as long as my checkups looked good. The only issues I had, which weren't serious, were heartburn and elevated blood pressure. The blood pressure came toward the end of the pregnancy and it only spiked in the morning while trying to get the family off to start their day.
As far as the actual pregnancy goes, I was a lucky one. I had no nausia, no swelling, and none of the other issues that I've read about in my myriad of books. I gained 36 pounds. I did avoid the amnios for Downs syndrome and other disorders. I felt that with the field of study I'm in, we'd be prepared to deal with an issue such as that if we should cross that bridge. I did one small blood test for the possibility of Downs, and the doctors looked for soft signs during the many ultrasounds, but that was it.
I had a glorious pregnancy, and my twins were born at 37 weeks. Our boy, Darrin, was 6 lb, 11oz. and our girl, Piper, was 7 lb, 2 oz.
What a neat website I hope to hear from others, too!

Re: Are You In Your 30's And Pregnant? Come Here!!
I can not wait to find out for sure LOL I go back on May 20th and they will do another u/s then. After the m/c last year, we rented a fetal dopler. It arrived three days ago and so far, we have not been able to find a heart beat in the center, only on each side, about five inches apart. With all my other pregnancies my m/s was mild, once or twice a day and with this one it has been constant, all day, everyday, since about 5 weeks. By 8 weeks I could not fit into my pants! Only a week left to find out for sure! YEAH!
Re: Are You In Your 30's And Pregnant? Come Here!!
Hello,
I just found out on Friday past through home pregnancy test that I am pregnant. I feel a bit queesy but not sick to my stomache. I have felt faint in the shower so I suspected it might be true. I am 36 years old and am very happy and almost at 5 weeks. You see, I was pregnant in the end of December but had a miscarriage (painfully physically and emotionally) at 8 weeks in the beginning of February. I am absolutely shocked at how fast I got pregnant again. It took a just short of a year the first time. I don't have any children so this will be my first. Cross your fingers for me and say a prayer please. I actually don't mind the nausea as I had no symptoms the first time besides swollen breasts. This makes it feel more real. My worst fear is that I will run into complications b/c of my age. I follow everything to a "T". I stayed off caffinated coffee since my last pregnancy and we are not much of alcohol drinkers and kept taking my vitamins (when I would remember). Anyone else having these fears because of age? My doctor said the internet could be my worst enemy and I am finding that out as i can't stop searching things like miscarriages and tragic stuff. I think mentally I am trying to deal with the fact that it could happen again. I want nothing more for it to be all good and smooth this time. THanks for listening - Michelle

Michelle ~ Hi and congrats!!! Welcome to the board. I know what you mean about after having one miscarriage. I had 5 in all my years of having babies and one is NOT any easier then the other. It's all hard. And what's worse is that everytime you get pregnant, you are parnoid the WHOLE time that it's gonna happen again. Trust me hon, I know!!
Try NOT to look up things on the internet though...lol I know easier said then done but that just tends to make things worse. On a positive note...you've got morning sickness and they say that's a GOOD thing, so YAY!!!
I have 6 kids. I had my first when I was 16 and just had my last right before turning 36. 20 years later, I'm DONE! NO more babies for me, I had a tubal in August 2007 when the twins were born. I have a DD-19, DS-14, DS-10, DS-3 and the twins, both DD's who are just over 9 mons.
I hope you stick around this board so we can all get to know you through your pregnany. It's slow here but trying to pick it up a bit. Take care and be in touch!!!
Re: Are You In Your 30's And Pregnant? Come Here!!
Hello everyone; my name is Kelly and i just turned 30 last month (whew!) I was actually 29 when we conceived so that's kinda cool. I'm 8 weeks today, due around jan 22 or so. I'm still waiting for my first drs appt...they didn't scheduled it until july 7th, so i will have lots of time to make a list of questions! Hopefully i'll be able to get an u/s the same day so we can see how many are in there and hear the HB--you know, just to be sure everything is going well. Oh, in case you haven't guessed, this is our first child, so we're really excited! My BF is already calling it a girl..hmmm...wonder if he knows something i don't??!!

Re: Are You In Your 30's And Pregnant? Come Here!!
Hi Amy, Hi Ladies.
I'm Mary, 36 years old. This is my 2nd pregnancy. I had a still birth in my first pregnancy at 39wks 4d.
I am pregnant (thank God!) at 6weeks 2days I think, with EDD between 02/06/09 - 02/08/09. I had an appointment last Thursday because I felt some cramping, just the normal preggy cramping, but my doctor did an ultrasound and just found a sac. So, I'm probably earlier than I thought based on measurements. My next appointment is July 1.
