How did the child(ren)'s father react to being served with a n order for child support? I am at the point where this is what is necessary for the care of my child. My son's father has only bought one can of formula for him the whole time he has been alive and that was just last week. Even my sister (who is only 18) came over with a big can of formula for the baby without being asked. I mean I would never ask her for that, cuz it's not her responsibility, but she brought it because she wanted to give her nephew something that she knew he could use. I have tried just asking for something for the baby when he needs it, and his father will say , oh I'll get it, and then I have to call several times before he actually does. And I shouldn't have to do that. He claims that he has bills to pay and such, but you know what, so do I . And I have still managed to do everything for my son. He even went out and bought a truck and a motorcycle and does not provide adequately for his son. SO at this point, this morning I downloaded the forms from my local child support agency and over the next week I will be getting together the necessary paperwork and filing them.

My SO wasn't too happy when we got him served for child support, but the kids and I needed it really bad. He ended up having his wages garnished in order for us to get it, and eventually he was fine with it. He knew the kids needed to come first even though he really resented it for a long time.

Some of these men(?) really make you want to shake them! My ex phones maybe once a week or fortnight asking how I am and wanting to get back together. When I tell him I don't want him in MY life but he should at least provide something for his unborn child he says..yeah true. I point out to him over and over that he has never bought one single thing for the baby and that whatever I have has been either bought by me or my parents he won't deny it but still he can't be bothered! WTF!!

I havent filed yet. I was waiting on him to finish college, which he did last week so they wouldn't take money from the money he gets from the army. He starts a new job soon so I'll get everything together. last time i mentioned it he got a bit p*$$y saying "oh so you think im a bad dad?". he obviously has it backwards- bad dads dont pay support. i explained to him that the money wasnt about me, it's for seth so i dont have to call, ask him to grab whatever, and wait for his schedule during the week to open up (he lives 30 miles away now) so he can bring it to me. he seems ok with it now, but im sure when relaity hits when he's served hell be a bit mad, but oh well. it's for seth.

I think I have t wait for the birth certificate first before I can file. I am so nervous and scared because I don't kow what will happen and what i have to do. I will just leave it God's hands. Does anyone know if there is a way to get custody and child support without having to be present in court?

If you have the state helping you, they do it all for you without you needing to be there. At least that's how it is here (MN).

Killiangirl...sorry dont know your name...

Im currently receiving child support through the Los Angeles child support agency. I never have gone to court. Also I never presented birth certificates...so I know that is NOT needed. You might have to go to court if he contests paternity. In my case the SD never contested it so we never went to court. Let me know if you have any questions....

Im sure you all know about WIC, but just incase I highly recommend it during the formula stage...I dont know how I would survived that first year with my twins without the help of WIC. I believe its a federally funded program and should be in all states.

btw....he was SUPER PISSED when he found out I filed....its been almost 5 years and he still is an angry jerk over it.

yes- wic is a HUGE help
seth recieves 10 12.9 oz cans of enfamil lipil a month, and now that he's 7 months he also gets 2 cans of concentrate juice and a box of cereal a month. he hates the juice they give him so i just drink it haha. i also qualified myself for wic. i recieve 2 things of concentrate juice, a giant box of cereal, 2 gallons of milk, cheese and a dozen eggs a month. signing up for it was pretty simple too, just a few forms. when i first applied they gave me a few cans of enfamil until i got my vouchers the next week from them, which i thought was great of them
