We don't celebrate Thanksgiving (
here's why) but it sure was nice to get a WHOLE day off of work for the first time in MONTHS! I totally expected ds15 to be off mooching food from friends and was thoroughly surprised when he chose to spend a quiet day at home with me and we were joined by his delightful partner last evening.
I'm due in February. My edd is the 10th, but I don't put a whole lot of stock in such things; the baby will come when s/he is ready.
On to Christmas and Solstice! We're transitioning, but I hope to have Christmas down to a silly secular family day by the time the new baby is aware of it (2009, I'm guessing) and play up the more spiritual aspects of the Solstice. I really hate the malls and the commercialism and the waste pf Christmas, but I do have some fond memories of Christmases past that become more and more bittersweet with each year.
I spent my WHOLE day off sewing and made some extra-soft extra-special extra-safe for baby and planet gowns out of
bamboo, which will be the first fabric that ever touches his/her skin.
Haras, I hadn't realized you were on bed rest. That totally sucks. I guess the silver lining is that I've always thought you were someone I'd like to get to know better and posting is one thing you CAN do.
Do you use a laptop? I've found that what's comfortable for me is to put the monitor on my bedside table, leaving just enough room for a mousepad, and put the keyboard on my lap. That way I can post from my desktop in the early mornings and the middle of the night without having to get out from under the nice warm covers!
