icon16 first impressions

Hi. My name is Christine. I am not sure if this is the right way to introduce yourself, but here I am. I am 19 years old (20 next Thursday, 4/24) expectant mother from Long Island, New York. Since I got with my boyfriend I gained a ton of weight and was just starting to get healthy again when I found out I was pregnant. I would love to learn how to stay on the right track, without limiting my calories or putting myself or the baby in any kind of danger. I've been lurking for awhile on the pregnancy boards, so if anyone has any tips please let me know!!

Hi Christine, congrats and welcome to the board. The only tips I can really say is keep active and eat in moderation. Like instead of having a couple big meals a day, have like 3 decent meals and 3 snacks so your spreading it out throughout the day. That will make you feel better and believe it or not, have more energy too. Plus we are here for you through your pregnancy and after for support or even a swift kick in the butt...lol which is what I need right about now to get motivated!! Anyway, jump in whenever you wan t, we're happy to have you here!!!

I was over wt when I got pregnant was told by my OB to not gain anything and I didnt till water wt got me at the end and I got pre-eclamtic.

Just eat in moderation but make sure you are eating what the baby needs.

I agree with Amy on the 3 meals, 3 snacks plan. That's what I had to do since I had GD during my pregnancy, and I ended up LOSING weight and giving birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl. It was hard for me to do, though.. I HATE thinking about and planning food all the time like that! I should really keep it up now that I'm not pg anymore...

I totally agree, this is what I SHOULD be doing now to lose weight!!!

Congrats and welcome! I'd just eat right and space the meals thru the day to keep your blood sugar even and also to keep heartburn from being a factor for you. Drinking water can also satisfy you a little when you're not really eating for hunger but for boredom Just be sensible and get physical....you'll do ok!
