Diastasis recti
Is anyone familiar with it?
I have a pretty bad case of it. It is "where the two right and left sides of the Rectus Abdominis—the “six-pack” muscle—spreads apart at the body’s midline, the linea alba." Basically makes you look pregnant because your abs are not flat but split and angled. It's common at the end of pregnancy from the uterus pressing against the ab muscles. I'm a pretty thin girl and I look about 5-6 months pregnant (all belly). I'm hoping it will correct itself with time. I'm just so frustrated because people can be so insensitive. Strangers make comments and ask when I'm due even when I'm out with my newborn. This happens almost everyday. Strangers have told me I need to work out. (Ironically I am a personal trainer) The other day I took my daughter and baby for breakfast. I'm holding the baby in the car seat and a waitress walked over patted my belly and asked my daughter what mommy has in her belly. That was the worst because my daughter was so confused by that question and had lots of questions for me afterward. I'm to the point where I don't want to go anywhere.
