Need some opinions...

Hello! I'll do you all a favor and start out by making this long story as short as possible. =P I am currently taking the birth control Lybrel (the one with no period) and have been on it for a month and a few days. My boyfriend and I are not currently TTC, but we do want to have a baby within the next year or two. Last Friday night, I began to feel nauseated and started vomiting. I have vomited a total of three times in the last week, which is very unusual for me. This led me to my local Walgreen's to pick up a pregnancy test. I purchased the Walgreen's brand "One-Step Early Pregnancy Test" (two pack). The first test, which was taken at night, looks like this:

I took the second test the next morning, and it came up negative.

My friend told me that the first test may have just been a contaminated test - causing a false positive. I have also heard that a faint line does indeed mean you are pregnant, it just may be very early. Is there anyone reading this who has been through this? This is very frustrating and confusing. Could someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks so much for reading!

While false positives are possible they are less common than false negatives. Sometimes you may be indeed in the early phases of conception and making enough of the hormone to register on a test but the baby doesn't, for the lack of a better word, stick. I would contact your OB/GYN since you got two seperate readings so they can determine whether you are pregnant or not. Being healthy and not on any harmful drugs to the fetus is very important, especially during the first monts. If you are pregnant, you need to get off the b-control pills ASAP. A simple blood test will give the doctor an accurate reading. Let us know what happens.

It's possible to get a false positive, but rare. I would take another test, but do it first thing in the morning (that's when they show up the best) or you could make an apt to have blood work done. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies, ladies. I will be taking a couple more tests this weekend to see what I get. Afterwhich, I will follow probably up with my OB/GYN. I am leaving town this weekend to see my boyfriend so I won't have a chance to until at least Monday. Thanks for all your help!

Hello, ladies! Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I've been busy with work and school after getting back home from the weekend. I took a test Friday night - negative. I took one Saturday first thing in the morning - negative. Just took one tonight - negative. I have officially given up. It must have just been a contaminated test like my friend said. I am pretty bummed about it, but I also know that it will happen when it happens. On the bright side, I will actually get to go bow hunting with my boyfriend this fall. He was saying that if I were pregnant, there would be no way I could sit in a tree stand. =P He wouldn't allow it. Also, I turn 21 in July. I shall just wait patiently for that day when I officially become a mommy. =D Thanks for all of your help! It is much appreciated!

When the time is right you'll get pregnant. Until, sounds like you have lots of big events upcoming that you wouldn't be able to take full advantage if you were with child. Have fun and we look forward to seeing you again in the future!
