Icon5 miscarriage question

If you have a miscarriage or anything like it (ectopic pregnancy, missed misscarriage,etc).....will you still get a positive pregnancy and for how long?

AF showed up on Saturday..it showed up earlier then usual..normally AF doesnt show up more towards the end of the month (Like the 25th..and thats when I was expecting AF to show)...and today..it is super heavy...more heavy then usual....I am going through super plus heavy tampons...and I am cramping sooo bad...I am in a fetus position.

and I even passed a couple of small (finger size) blood clots.

Could this possibly be a miscarriage? could I take a pregnancy test to find out....or what?

any help..is appreciated...

Take a HPT and see if it comes up + I think you can get a + for a couple of weeks after a m/c

You can get a + for 6 to 8 weeks after delivering or having a miscarriage. The instructions on the HPT should tell you. If not then you could always call the number on the box and ask. I remember when I was pregnant with my first baby, I was nervous and wanted to do everything right so I read the HPT pamphlet backwards and forwards, and I do remember it saying how long a + would show up after delivery or miscarriage. It was an E.P.T. Not the digital kind, just the regular. Go get one and take it, if you are having a miscarriage then it should come out +. I will be sending prayers your way. Hope it's not m/c, and it's just early af. Good Luck!

You could take a HPT to check but drs don't usually regard it (from my experience) as a MC until you are at least at your expected AF date. You could have had a chemical pregnancy as well. human chorionic gonadotrphin (hcG) stays in your system for a few weeks depending on the levels originally reached. If you were only just pg then it should be out in maybe 2wks but could definately take longer. The fact that you are in intense pain and passing clots indicates that you could be having a MC and should see your dr in any case as there could be a risk of infection if any products of conception remain. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
